STELE OF JEU THE HEIROGLYPHIST: HEADLESS RITUAL
I summon thee, Headless One, who created Earth and Heaven,
Who created night and day, thou who created light and darkness,
Thou art Osoronnophris whom none hath ever seen,
Thou art IABAS, thou art IAPOS,
Thou hast distinguished the just and the unjust,
Thou hast made female and male,
Thou hast revealed seed and fruits,
Thou hast made men love each other and hate each other.
I am Jowdareth thy priest to whom thou hast transmitted thy mysteries,
Thou hast revealed the moist and the dry and all nourishment; hear me!
I am the messenger of Lord Osoronnophris; this is thy true name which hath been
transmitted to the wise ones of elder days.
Hear me ARBATHIAÔ REIBET ATHELEBERSÊTH ARA BLATHA ALBEU
EBENPHCHI CHITASGOÊ IBAÔTH IAÔ
Hearken to me, and turn away any daimon that restrains or oppresses me!
I call upon you, Terrible and Unseen God with an Empty Spirit:
AROGOGOROBRAÔ SOCHOU MODORIÔ PHALARCHAÔ OOO
Holy Headless One, deliver me NN from any daimon that restrains me;
ROUBRIAÔ MARI ÔDAM BAABNABAÔTH ASS ADÔNAI APHNIAÔ
ITHÔLÊTH ABRASAX AÊOÔY
Mighty Headless One, deliver me NN from any daimon that restrains me;
MABARRAIÔ IOÊL KOTHA ATHORÊBALÔ ABRAÔTH
Deliver me, NN:
AÔTH ABAÔTH BASYM ISAK SABAÔTH IAÔ.
He is the Lord of the Gods.
He is the Lord of the inhabited world.
He is the one whom the winds fear.
He is the one who made all things by the command of his voice.
Lord, King, Master, Helper, save my soul:
IEOU PYR IOU PYR IAÔT IAÊÔ IOOU ABRASAX SABRIAM OO YY EY
OO YY ADÔNAIE
Immediately, Immediately, good messenger of the Lord
ANLALA LAI GAIA APA DIACHANNA CHORYN.
I am the Headless Daimon with sight in my feet;
I am the Mighty One who possesseth the immortal fire;
I am the truth who hateth the fact that unjust deeds are done in the world;
I am the one who maketh the lightning flash and the thunder roll;
I am the one whose sweat is the heavy rain which falleth upon the Earth that it might be
inseminated;
I am the one whose mouth burns completely;
I am the one who begeteth and destroyeth;
I am the Favor of the Aion:
My Name is a Heart encircled by a Serpent;
Come forth and follow.
Preparation for the foregoing ritual: write the formula (AÔTH ABAÔTH BASYM ISAK
SABAÔTH IAÔ or CHABRACH PHNESCHÊR PHICHRO PHNYRÔ PHÔCHÔ BÔCH, as you
choose) on a new sheet of papyrus, and after extending it from one of your temples to the
other, read the 6 names while you face north, saying:
Subject to me all daimons, so that every daimon, whether heavenly or aerial, or earthly
or subterranean, or terrestrial or aquatic, might be obedient to me, and every
enchantment and scourge which is from the Lord of the Gods.
And all daimons will be obedient to you. The beneficial sign is:
Note on the alternative “Six Names” and the “Good Sign” or the beneficial sign:
AEÊIOYÔ ÔYOIÊEA often comes before or after CHABRACH PHNESCHÊR
PHICHRO PHNYRÔ PHÔCHÔ BÔCH in the manuscripts. If you utilize this
alternative “Six Names” for this spell, it may be empowering to chant AEÊIOYÔ
ÔYOIÊEA before saying the names aloud.
There is no instruction given on how to use the “beneficial sign”, though most have
drawn it somewhere on the strip of papyrus (or paper) that is stretched across the
forehead. Most draw it above or below the Six Names, centered on them.
After saying the “Subject to me all daimons” adjuration, and waiting a few moments, I
have as a matter of personal practice at times then said:
Daimons near to me who are wicked or maliceful, depart and return never; daimons
near to me who come in beneficence or friendship, remain, and may we be strong
together.
And then proceeded with the spell. This is naturally optional as part of the preparation.
