Summary of My Favorite Series: Attack On Titan, Season 1:Part 1

Attack On Titan is one of the most popular manga series

written, having sold over 140 million copies worldwide, and in

my opinion, is also the best. It relates the sad story of a boy

yearning for the outside world in a civilization barricaded

behind three-layered concentric walls protected by four cities

each, from monstrous entities called Titans.

BOOK ONE Year: 845.

Book One opens with a scene of the Survey Corps on an

expedition outside the walls to reclaim land in order to expand

the civilization. They stumble into a Titan, gargantuan

humanlike creatures, and immediately it. The resolution of this

battle is unclear as the book shifts to the interior of a city

where two children, Eren Yaeger and Mikasa Ackerman, both ten

years old, are walking through the streets of the district they

live in, Shiganshina District, in Southside Wall Maria. When

Eren hears the bell tolling–meaning the Survey Corp are back-he
and Mikasa run to the gate, and are horrified to find the corps

massacred—a far too common event–before sadly going home.

There, Mikasa reveals that Eren wants to join the Survey

Corp, and his mother fearfully rebukes him. However, his

father, Grisha Yaeger, states “Eren, When I get home, I’ll show

you what’s in the basement that I’ve been keeping a secret all

this time,” before leaving for the next town over, as he is a

doctor. Eren angrily storms out of the house, yelling that

people willing to live like caged birds are the real fools, and

his mother sends Mikasa to protect him.

Then, we are introduced to the final main character, Armin

Arlert, Eren’s best friend, with brains for brawn, who is being

beaten up for wanting to go outside like Eren. The bullies run

away after seeing Eren and Mikasa and the trio continue

together.

Suddenly, they see steam rising from the gate of the

50-meter wall they live behind, and an abnormally large Titan’s

head peeks over, before kicking through the wall. A massive

piece of rubble is launched through the sky, crushing Eren’s

house, and killing his mother. As the townsfolk flee, a Titan

with armour-like skin breaks through the main wall of Maria.

This catastrophe killed 20% of the human population.

Year 850
After they had to abandon their outmost wall, and after 5

years, Eren, Mikasa, Armin, and many others graduated the 104th

Training Corp, and the corp is stationed for duty throughout

Trost district, a city in Wall Rose, but the Colossus Titan

shows up once again.

Eren and the rest of the training corp attack the Titan,

and eren almost gets a clean slice of flesh, but the Titan

disappears, however, the damage was done. Trost district was

compromised.

As the corp is fighting for their lives, Eren is eaten by a

Titan because he saved Armin.

Book 2

As the fight commences, Mikasa kills a Titan heading for

the gate to the inside of wall Rose, stopping all the people

running through from dying. It is then brought to mind that the

gas supply point for the ODM Gear was compromised, so the

remainder of the 104Th try to take it back with what little gas

left, and when on their way, Mikasa runs out of gas, falls, and

hits her head.

Year 844

We see Mikasa's Childhood home, where Mikasa's mother, the

last 100% Asian alive, passes down to Mikasa her family brand

while they wait for doctor Yeager. The family eventually hears
the doorbell, but opens it to find three kidnappers, who kill

Mikasa's parents, and kidnap her.

The book cuts away to Eren and his father coming inside, and

finding the dead parents, but no mikasa, so Grisha tells Eren to

wait at the mountain base, but Eren stumbles into the kidnappers

hideout, and kills both of them, and saves mikasa.

Eren then gives Mikasa his scarf, and tells her she can live at

his house.

Mikasa comes to, and they make it to the resupply, and

enact Armin's plan to take it back. His plan is a success, and

they refill their ODM gear, which is like gas powered grappling

hooks.

The Team are about to scale the wall, but find the helpful

Titan-that nobody killed-disintegrating, and find Eren inside of

it, unconscious.

Book 3

The Corp try to kill and question Eren, and Eren protects

mikasa from a cannon shell by turning into a Titan, but Armin

comes up with a plan to take back Trost District that the higher

ups agree with, by using Eren's “Titan power” to seal up the

gate with a boulder.

Book 4
As Eren uses his power, he goes on a rampage, trying to

kill Mikasa, before Laying down in exhaustion, and then Armin

tries to talk to him about the outside world,

Armin succeeded, and Eren started sealing Trost district

with a boulder. As the yellow flare is shot off, it is declared

that humanity has had its first victory in 105 years.

Year: 847

Eren, Mikasa and Armin go through the training Corp, where

we meet Jean Kirstein, Annie Leonheart, Bertolt Hoover, Reiner

Braun, Krista Lenz, Sasha Blouse, Connie Springer, Captain Levi,

Leader Erwin Smith, and Marco bott.

Marco Bott’s body is found, with no explanation why, Jean

Kirstein says he wants to join the survey corps. Cutaway to

Captain Levi explaining to Eren what his squad has been doing

while he is trapped in a prison cell, along with telling him

that they believe in the basement of his old house in

Shiganshina lies the secret to the Titans, before asking Eren

what he wants to do, and Eren responds with “I just want to join

the survey corps, and kill the Titans, every last one of them,

that's on this earth.”
