Setting of Standards
For us to have a more meaningful teaching and learning
process, I have prepared here some of the standards each
and everyone of you should obey.

Teamwork – Work well with classmates and
collaborate effectively.
Open-Mindedness – Be willing to listen, learn, and
respect different ideas.
Mindfulness – Be aware of your actions, words, and
their impact on others.
A – Active Participation – Engage in discussions and
activities with enthusiasm.
Curiosity – Ask questions and seek knowledge beyond
the lesson.
Honesty – Uphold integrity in your work and
interactions with others.

EXPLORE
Teacher’s Activity (5 minutes) Student’s Activity
This time I will let you explore the digestive system.
As you can see the illustration of digestive system on the
board, there are missing parts of it. Now, open the red
pouch on the enveloped I have given. There are strips of
papers containing the parts of the digestive system inside
and it is your turn to place these words to its location in
the illustration.

Each group will be asked to paste their
answers on the board. Checking of outputs will be
done immediately after each group has posted
their answers. The illustration containing the
correct placement of the parts will be shown using
the PowerPoint presentation.
What are the different parts of the digestive system?

Group Activity 3: Read and Digest
(See attachment # 4)
Now that you already know the parts of the digestive
system, you are now ready to learn the functions of each
organ. Bring out the green pouch inside the folder. Read
the reading material about the digestive system and look
for the function of the parts your group has pasted on the
board during the second activity. Write the function in the
given manila paper. Afterwards, two members from your
group will present your output. Are we clear?
Yes Ma’am.
The students will read the reading materials and
will search for the function of their assigned organs
of the digestive system. Later, two students from
each group will present their output to the class.
Expected Answers:
Mouth – Begins digestion by
mechanically breaking down food with
teeth and chemically with enzymes in
saliva.
Esophagus – Transports food from the
mouth to the stomach through a series
of muscle contractions called

peristalsis.
Stomach – Secretes gastric juices that
contain acid and enzymes to break
down proteins and churn food into a
semi-liquid substance called chyme.
Small Intestine – The primary site for
nutrient absorption, where enzymes
from the pancreas and bile from the
liver break down food, and villi absorb
nutrients into the bloodstream.
Liver – Produces bile, which helps
emulsify fats for digestion and
absorption in the small intestine.
Gallbladder – Stores and releases bile
produced by the liver into the small
intestine to aid fat digestion.
Pancreas – Produces digestive
enzymes and bicarbonate, which help
break down food and neutralize
stomach acid in the small intestine.
Large Intestine – Absorbs water and
electrolytes from undigested food,
forming solid waste and housing
beneficial gut bacteria.
Rectum – Stores feces until they are
eliminated from the body through the
anus.
All of you did a great work. Let’s clap for each group. Anus – The opening through which
feces are expelled from the body.

Summing Up the Lesson
Now, let us recall the different parts of the digestive
system and their functions.
I am going to flash questions about the lesson and
if you know the answer just feel free to raise your
hand and answer the given question. Students who
will give the correct answer will be rewarded.
