Memorandum of Understanding
between
Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID)
and
Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers
(ISHRAE)
1.0 Preamble
This Memorandum of Understanding is being signed between the Indian Society
of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) located at
1103-1104, 11th Floor, Chiranjiv Tower, Nehru Place, New Delhi - 110 019
AND
Institute of Indian Interior Designers located at 109, Sumer Kendra, Pandurang
Budhkar Marg, Worli, Mumbai - 400 018.
This MoU comes into effect from the date of signing i.e 5th June 2020.
2.0 Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID)
Institute of Indian Interior Designers, popularly called IIID; was founded in 1972
to establish good professional & trade practices and ethics amongst its members
and to highlight and enhance the image of the interior design profession and
exchange know how with similar organizations within the country & abroad.
IIID is a member of the Asia Pacific Space Designers Alliance (APSDA).
Today, with over 8,000 members in 33 chapters & centres across India and 1 in
Dubai, IIID is a true representative of the interior design fraternity within the
country as well as globally. IIID has well-defined aims and objectives towards the
fulfilment of its duties towards the fraternity & profession and society at large.

2.1 IIID Mission Statement
To consolidate and expand the contribution of the Interior Design Profession
towards improving quality of life in contemporary and future societies by the
sharing of knowledge, experience and understanding of responsibilities.
3.0 ISHRAE
ISHRAE is the premier Indian society in the HVAC&R field with approximately
25,000 members pan India dedicated to advancing the arts & sciences of
heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to serve humanity and to
promote energy efficiency and sustainable building development in India.
ISHRAE serves its members through 43 chapters across the country.
To fulfil its objectives, ISHRAE organizes seminars, conferences, workshops and
exhibitions throughout India; publishes a technical journal, handbooks,
guidebooks, standards and position papers; promotes research through co-
operation with academic institutions and industry. Its education and training
branch, the ISHRAE Institute of Excellence (IIE) conducts courses and training to
groom professionals for a career in the HVAC&R field.
ISHRAE works closely with all the stakeholders connected with the built
environment & building services industry.
3.1 ISHRAE Aims & Objectives
- Advancement of the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air
conditioning and refrigeration engineering and related services.
- Continuing education of members and other interested persons in the said
sciences through lectures, workshops, product presentations, publications
and expositions.
- Rendition of career guidance and financial assistance to students of the said
sciences.
- Encouragement of scientific research.

4.0 MoU Objectives
- IIID & ISHRAE through this MoU have joined hands as industry associations
who are keen to work together and create a common platform to share
knowledge and help their members learn from industry experts from both
these associations.
- IIID & ISHRAE agree to exchange information on the latest developments in
their respective areas that are of common interest, and jointly work in
conducting programs to benefit the members of the interior design & HVAC&R
industry.
- The industry concerns related to climate change, environmental responsibility,
safety, energy efficiency, ergonomics & IEQ, sustainable workplace that can be
addressed by the building services industry will be given importance and
attention. If required, a joint technical committee / task force can be set up to
address issues of common technical interest.
5.0 Areas of Cooperation
5.1 Joint Programs including ACREX India
- Whenever ISHRAE or IIID major events are to be held, the organizers may
send a note giving information and details about the event and an invitation
to participate in the event.
- IIID and ISHRAE will also promote and encourage their members to
participate in the programs of the two organisations through posting on
websites and through intra-society mailers.
- ISHRAE & IIID shall jointly conduct 'Awareness Workshops' on some of
these subjects that have universal appeal, like air quality, sustainable growth
& highlight the role of both IIID & ISHRAE in this regard and the impact of
interior design on indoor environmental quality.
- ACREX India is a popular brand owned by ISHRAE for its hugely popular
annual exhibition held in rotation at New Delhi, Mumbai & Bangalore. IIID
SHOWCASE is a popular exhibition held by IIID in different cities like
Indore, Hyderabad, Rajkot, Surat etc. ISHRAE and IIID on their respective

websites, will give publicity to ACREX India and IIID SHOWCASE in order to
maximize participation by potential exhibitors and promote visitors and
delegates to the exhibition and to concurrent seminars & workshops.
5.2 Education & Training
- ISHRAE will keep IIID informed of their ICP (ISHRAE Certified Professional)
programs (clean room, AC design, AC service) so that IIID can give it
publicity and encourage candidates to join these prestigious courses.
- IIID & ISHRAE will promote the educational programs of one another, in
particular the training programs held by ISHRAE Institute of Excellence at
various chapters / sub-chapters.
- Parties shall work together to jointly create awareness of training programs
conducted by them on the role & importance of interior design in air-
conditioned & ventilated places to the interested professionals across India,
who are members of these two associations.
5.3 Publications
The parties shall exchange information of their publications and may share
copies of the periodicals / publications on a reciprocal basis. These
publications shall be made available at a suitable concessional price compared
to MRP, to the members of the two organisations.
5.4 Information Exchange
- IIID and ISHRAE shall exchange information on the latest developments in
their respective areas of work, with regular interaction between the two
organizations.
- Data, statistics, trends, reports impacting the building services industry
released by the Government or any international agencies, will be shared
among the two organisations.
- To promote information exchange both IIID and ISHRAE may post news /
developments / upcoming events, and articles of interest of the other
organisation, on their websites.

5.5 Membership Promotion & Networking
- IIID & ISHRAE will both encourage their members to participate & network
in events / programs / conferences / seminars & training programs
organised by the other party.
- Both societies will recommend to their members to join the other society as
well.
6.0 Representation & Use of Logos
- IIID or ISHRAE will not make any representation to any Government /
statutory body on behalf of each other, unless the same has been specifically
approved in writing by the competent authorities in the two organisations.
- This MoU recognizes the fact that both IIID & ISHRAE trademarks are widely
known throughout India & overseas. The use of either organisation's logo /
trademark has therefore to be authorized by the respective organisation, and it
is necessary to seek prior approval in writing detailing the context of usage,
from the other party, before using their logo.
- During the validity of this MoU, IIID and ISHRAE will, with due discussions,
allow each other to use their logo as endorsements of ACREX India and IIID
SHOWCASE
- Neither party will be held liable for acts of omission or commission of the other
party, with respect to anything agreed upon under this MoU.
7.0 Tenure and Termination
This MoU between IIID & ISHRAE shall be valid when signed by the authorized
representatives of both organisations and shall continue till it is terminated by
mutual consent or by either party at their discretion by giving a written thirty
days' notice, to this effect.
The MoU may be renewed, modified or amended with the mutual written
consent of both parties.
