METHODOLOGY
This article is based on a qualitative methodology, gathering data from various sources
and authors to understand their perspectives and generate a proposal based on a systematic
review. The design was descriptive, emphasizing specialized academic studies related to the
impact of anxiety on students’ educational processes. Exhaustive searches were conducted in
academic databases using keywords such as “anxiety in students,” “anxiety and academic
performance,” and “strategies for managing anxiety,” which served as the basis for the use of
Boolean operators for a relevant systematic review.
Studies and resources that offered relevant and up-to-date information on the topic were
selected. The findings were analyzed, and the main impacts of anxiety on the educational
process, as well as effective strategies for managing it, were identified. Therefore, we based
our analysis on a population with certain characteristics, such as university students. It is
worth mentioning that a population is the entire universe of elements that share a certain
characteristic or need within an area previously defined for study (Vinueza, 2016).
Furthermore, practical experiences and recommendations from education professionals and
experts in the field were taken into account. In other words, these perspectives provided a
practical and realistic approach to how to address anxiety in the educational setting. The
information gathered was organized coherently and structured into thematic sections,
focusing on the impact on academic performance, emotional well-being, and learning
difficulties. Concrete examples were presented, and specific strategies were offered to help
students manage anxiety. It is important to emphasize that this article is for informational and
educational purposes only and does not replace individualized professional advice.
Addressing anxiety in the educational context.
In summary, this article is based on a comprehensive literature review. The methodology
used ensures the rigor and relevance of the information presented, providing readers with a
solid understanding of the impact of anxiety on the educational process and effective
strategies for addressing it.
This research was conducted with a population of 100 participants in the Administration
program, enrolled in the sixth semester of the Instrumental English program at the Simón
Rodríguez National Experimental University, Marigüitar Campus, Bolívar Municipality,
Sucre State. Of these participants, only a small group was selected as a sample.
These participants were selected using atypical sampling, which refers to a subset of data
that does not adequately represent the population of interest. Generally, a sample is
considered atypical if it presents unusual or biased characteristics, or if it is composed of
elements that are not representative of the entire population.
A qualitative approach was used, so statistical representativeness was not a primary
criterion. Instead, a diverse and experience-rich sample was sought to allow for a deeper
understanding of the phenomenon of student anxiety in the classroom.
Students who did not meet the inclusion criteria, were unavailable at the time of the
interviews, or were unable to provide informed consent were excluded. In addition, purposive
sampling was used to ensure that students with diverse perspectives and experiences relevant
to the research were readily available and willing to participate in the study. The sample
consisted of 39 men and 61 women, ranging in age from 19 to 21. The goal was to achieve a
sample size that would allow for a thorough exploration of the topic without creating
redundant information.
