NARRATIVE REPORT

Narrative Report on Attending a Training on the Revised K–12 Curriculum

Introduction:

Attending training is an essential aspect of an educator’s professional journey. In an ever-

evolving educational landscape, it is crucial for teachers to continuously adapt and upgrade their skills to
meet the demands of the 21st-century classroom. Recently, I had the opportunity to attend a training on
the revised K–12 curriculum, held from June 26-28, 2025 at Quintin Quijano Sr. Agricultural School. The
training was organized by the Department of Education and was participated by teachers from Calbiga 1,
Pinabacdao 1, Talalora, Villareal 1 and Zumarraga Districts. The main goal of the program was to
familiarize educators with the changes, enhancements, and alignment strategies embedded in the revised
curriculum, ensuring a more holistic and relevant approach to learning.

Objectives of the Training:

The training aimed to:

Introduce the key changes in the revised K–12 curriculum.
Strengthen understanding of the curriculum's philosophy and framework.
Align classroom practices with updated content and learning standards.
Provide strategies for effective integration of 21st-century skills.
Equip teachers with assessment tools appropriate for the revised learning competencies.

Summary of Activities:

The training was conducted over [Insert Number] days and included lectures, workshops, breakout
sessions, and group presentations. Key topics discussed included:

Curriculum revisions per learning area (e.g., English, Math, Science, Araling Panlipunan).

Emphasis on foundational skills in the early grades.

Integration of values and character development across subjects.

Use of differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices.

Assessment reforms and performance-based tasks.

Subject matter experts and experienced curriculum developers presented the rationale behind each
revision and facilitated interactive activities to ensure participants could apply the content effectively.
Demonstration teaching sessions provided practical examples of lesson delivery using the revised guides.

Insights and Learnings:

One of the most significant takeaways from the training was the renewed focus on foundational literacy
and numeracy, as well as the seamless integration of 21st-century skills such as critical thinking,
communication, collaboration, and creativity. The curriculum now places greater emphasis on
contextualized and localized content to better reflect the learners’ experiences and environment.

Furthermore, I realized the importance of aligning classroom assessments with learning competencies, as
this allows for better monitoring of student progress. The use of formative assessments and performance
tasks was strongly encouraged to ensure deeper learning and application of knowledge.

Reflections:

The training was timely and essential in ensuring that we, as educators, are equipped to implement the
changes effectively in our respective classrooms. It gave me a clearer direction on how to adjust my
lesson planning, instruction, and evaluation to meet the revised standards. I am now more confident in
handling curriculum changes and more motivated to support learner-centered and inclusive education.

Conclusion:

Overall, the training on the Revised K–12 Curriculum was an enriching experience that deepened my
understanding of the current educational landscape in the Philippines. It highlighted the evolving role of
teachers as facilitators of meaningful learning. I am committed to sharing this knowledge with my
colleagues and applying these new strategies to help improve student outcomes and foster lifelong
learning among my learners.
