✅ Detailed Bike PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) Checklist


1. Documentation & Paperwork

Verify invoice matches agreed price and variant.


Check Chassis Number & Engine Number on RC and frame.
Confirm Registration Certificate (RC) is correct.
Get the Insurance copy (TP or Comprehensive).
Check for Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate (if applicable).
Ask for Owner’s Manual, Service Booklet, and Warranty Card.
Note date of delivery for warranty period start.
Verify road tax and RTO charges in receipt.
Ask for any freebies or accessories promised at booking.

2. Physical Condition (Visual Check)

Inspect paint, body panels, tank, fenders – no scratches/dents.


Check weld joints for cracks or poor finishes.
Ensure all stickers/logos are properly pasted.
Check mirrors, handle grips, levers for quality and scratches.
Look for rust spots on frame, nuts, or spokes.

3. Tyres & Wheels

Check tyre brand, size, and manufacturing date (should be recent).


No cuts, bulges, or punctures.
Inspect tread depth.
Check air pressure (adjust to recommended PSI).
Check rims/alloys for damage or bends.

4. Suspension & Forks

Compress front forks and rear shocks – check for smooth rebound.
No oil leaks around fork seals or shock absorbers.
Bike should sit level on main stand.

5. Brakes & Discs

Press front and rear brake levers – they should feel firm.
Inspect brake fluid levels in reservoir.
Check brake pads/discs/drums for rust or damage.
Check ABS light goes off after moving (if equipped).

6. Electrical System

Test headlight (high/low beam), parking light, indicators, and brake lights.
Check horn for loudness.
Confirm instrument cluster readings (fuel, RPM, odo, gear indicator).
Check kill switch, starter button, and ignition.
Verify battery brand, date, and charge level.
Check all connections & wiring – no loose or exposed wires.

7. Engine & Fluids

Ensure engine oil level is correct (dipstick/window).


Check engine starts on first crank and idles smoothly.
No unusual smoke from exhaust.
Check for oil leaks under the engine or around drain bolt.
Verify coolant level if it's a liquid-cooled bike.
Ask if first service oil is already filled or needs topping.

8. Controls & Cables

Check clutch lever – smooth operation, proper play.


Throttle should be smooth and auto-returning.
Gear shifts should feel crisp and firm.
All cables (throttle, clutch) should be routed properly – no kinks.

9. Chain & Sprocket

Chain should be well lubricated and not too loose/tight.


Sprockets should have no sharp or worn teeth.
Ask about recommended slack range.

10. Fuel

Ensure minimum 1–2 litres of petrol is in the tank.


Confirm fuel gauge is working correctly.

11. Test Ride

Take a short ride to check:


Gear shifts (no miss shifts)
Brakes (no jerks or noises)
Steering alignment
Engine response
Suspension behavior
Instrument readings under movement

12. Accessories / Add-ons


Check fitment of saree guard, crash guard, number plate, indicators, mirrors.
If any aftermarket parts or company accessories were promised (seat cover, phone
mount, top box), make sure they are installed properly.
Ask about tool kit & first aid box.

13. Spare Keys

Confirm both original and duplicate keys are given and working.
If it has an immobilizer or RFID, check both keys.

14. Warranty & Service

Ask for a service schedule and nearest service centre.


Confirm the free service intervals.
Take note of warranty terms (engine, battery, parts).
