“Procedure for read the meter data through VINPLUS”

 Direct communication(optical) for non-DLMS meter (IEC METER)

1. Double click on the vinplus icon.

3. Enter the user id and password in main window to get login into the
software.

5. User id: amr and password: amr.
6. After login, a window will open as shown in the below snap :-

8. Connect the meter to PC.
9. For non-dlms (IEC) meter first we have to update the property file whereas
for DLMS meter property file is not required.

[Link] to utility tab, click on it, browse the property file path where your
property file is saved and click on update, then it shows the message
“property file/s updated” and close.

Fill the parameters in displayed window

Example: - Browse the file path for editing: meter configuration

 (This meter [Link] file will get in the below mentioned path
My computer → c-drive → program files → Lnt → vinplus → meter
configuration).
 Instance id will be default 1.
 Enter the port no. (By default it will be 1).
 Baud rate is selectable (for optical 9600 & for RS232 4800).
 Enter type (mode) of communication eg. Optical or RS232, RS485
etc.
 Enter the meter serial no.
 Enter the connection type. Example: - direct, GSM, RS485 etc.

After selecting these parameters the data file path and result file path will get
selected by default.

 Select type of data that you want to read in “what to read?” column.
 Then, to save the configuration, click on the save button on close.

18. After the configuration, data as to be read hence click on “read data”.

[Link] on command to show the status of communication and click on send.

GSM communication for non-DLMS meter (IEC METER):-

In GSM communication we can read the meter which is located at remote place
(long distance). Two modems are required one for PC side and another at meter
side. Connect the modem to PC & update the property file.

The configuration details are as follows:-

1. In vinplus main window click on configuration tab. Click on modem config.

2. The window will open as shown in the below snap.

5. First we have to configure the both modems. For PC side modem, configure
L&T(GSM-Server) Select the port and click on configure modem. For Meter
side modem, configure L&T (GSM-Meter). Click on configure Modem.
6. It shows the status that “configuration done” then click on ok. Then save the
configuration.

8. Now go to meter reading in the same window.

1. Browse the file that is “meter [Link]”.

4. Select the port (default 1).

6. Meter comm. Port is selectable. Example: - optical, RS232 etc,

8. Enter the connection type that is GSM.
9. Enter the phone number means sim number of modem which is
connected at meter side.
[Link] the dial retry; means if reading failed at some instant, it will retry
for N no of times you enter.
[Link] the modem make, here we have to enter modem maker which is in
the configurations.

[Link] file path will be selected by default.

[Link] and close the configurations.
[Link] go to read data, click on read meter.

[Link] read API window will open; browse the file (meter
[Link]). Click on commands and then click on send button.
