2. Give the Etymological meaning of Art. (Create Image)
- The word "Art" comes from the Latin word "arts," which means skill or craft. So, when
we talk about art, we're talking about the skills and techniques people use to create beautiful or
meaningful things.
- Painting, this is one of
the example skill or we
can say form of art.
Painting is a way to
express one’s feelings,
emotion, and thoughts. It
composes of colors, brush
strokes, and shapes. On
the other hand, painting
may tackle about different
kind of issues even in
social issues and
dilemmas.

3. Who was the Roman Poet and what did he refer?


- The Roman Poet mentioned was Lucretius, he referred art as the skill, enabling man to
improve the material conditions of his existence in the world.
4. What is Formalism? Summarize the Explanation.
- Art can be a mix of shapes, lines, textures, colors, and more. Even if it's just a bunch of
colors and shapes put together, it's still art. One type of this is called abstract art. It doesn't show
something clear, like a person or an object, but if we really think about it, we might see something
hidden in it. It's like finding a secret picture within all the colors and shapes.
5. Describe the difference between imitation and form? Illustrate your own example.
- Difference is that imitation is about representing something real, while form is about the
artistic elements and how they're put together to create the artwork itself.

• Paul Cezanne – “Artists need to look at nature and things only as forms made up of

• William Shakespeare – “Art is putting mirror up to nature.” “All the world is a stage, and
men and women are merely players.”

• Aristotle – “Art is the expression of the artist’s overflowing emotion (catharsis).

7. Summarize and illustrate the complete the Nature of Art.


Art is all about making things that look
nice and make us happy. It needs skill
and imagination. Anything done well
can be called art, like teaching or doing
acupuncture. You can find art
everywhere, even in stuff like martial
arts or cool gadgets. When we say
something is "state of the art," it means
it's the best there is. Art is made to be
enjoyed and liked because it's pretty.

8. Explain briefly the” Universality and Importance of Art” Copy the example.
• Timelessness of Art
- A long time ago, in France, people went into caves and drew pictures on the walls.
They drew animals like cows and horses. They believed that drawing these animals
would bring them good luck when they went hunting for food. So, these drawings
were like a way to ask for help from the animals they wanted to catch for dinner.
• Colosseum
- The Colosseum in Rome is a huge, round building made of a strong material called
concrete. People also call it the Flavian Amphitheater. Back in the old days, they
used to have fights there, like big battles between lions and Christians. It's famous
and everyone around the world knows about it because it looks cool.
• The Thinker
- The Thinker is a statue made of bronze by a French artist named Auguste Rodin.
At first, it was meant to sit atop a big entrance in Paris called the Gates of Hell.
These gates were inspired by some sad and gloomy poems from Italy and France,
talking about life and happiness in a dark way. But those gates were never finished.
Now, pieces like The Thinker are displayed on their own as separate works of art.
• Zeus
- The top god of the Earth and ruler of Mount Olympus is Zeus. He's like the boss of all
the Greek gods and goddesses, and he lives up in the sky on a mountain called Olympus.
From there, he watches over everything that happens on Earth and makes sure everything
runs smoothly, or at least tries to.

9. Art Is the Imitation of Nature. Give your own example and diagram.
- One of the best examples is when a painter draws something to showcase the attitude of a man.
His activity will depend on how he does it or his process imitating a natural process.

10. Explain “Art is the representation of nature “Give your own example between natural
and made man.
- When we say, "Art is the representation of nature," it means that art often tries to show or capture
things we see in the natural world around us. For example, a painting of a beautiful sunset over a
mountain is art representing nature. The artist might use colors and brushstrokes to make the
painting look like the real sunset they saw. And Manmade if someone makes a sculpture of a chair
because ball does not exist naturally.
11. When do we say that art is not nature? Compare Art and Nature.
- We can say that art is not nature when it is not representing nature and the art is not part of our

natural world, basically it is something people created, and something whose does not exist

naturally. Art can be inspired by nature and try to capture its beauty, they're not the same thing.

Art is what people create, while nature is what's already here, all around us.

12. The Values of Art Give example.


• Aesthetic value – This is when we make things that are pleasing to the eye and ear of
others.
• Didactic – It means something teaches you a lesson or gives you knowledge. If a book,
movie, or even a piece of art has didactic value, it's trying to teach you something important
or help you learn a lesson.
• Religious – These values use to increases the awareness of man’s relationship with God
and to promote better bonds between God and man.
• Historical – This is when art shows us something significant aspect from the past and help
to preserve our history.
• Socio- Political Value – When art is used to exposed problems in our society and the
government. Best example here is the Noli Me Tangere and Dekada 70
• Scientific – This is when art is used to inform us about the outer space, earth, psychology,
numbers, and patterns.
• Commercial – When the art is used to make money. If an artwork is sold for something
that will make his/her gain money and riches.
• Pragmatic - means something is useful or practical. If something has pragmatic value, it
helps you in real life or solves a problem.
• Therapeutic – that means that creating or experiencing art can make people feel better
emotionally or mentally. It's like using art to help with healing and relaxation.
• Personal – It shows that art is the way of expression of our own emotions, it can help us
to make our self-awareness better, and will allow us to improve our self-discovery.
13. Writing: Review the 7 Importance of Art. Rewrite in a paragraph form by showing this
format. Have the Introduction; Body; and Conclusion.
Art is super important for lots of reasons, not just because it's nice to look at. It's like a

special language that everyone can understand, no matter where they're from. Whether it's a

painting, a sculpture, or music, art can do so much.

Firstly, art lets us show who we are in our own special ways. It helps us express thoughts

and feelings that words alone can't always explain. Secondly, it makes us think in creative ways.

It pushes us to see things differently and come up with cool new ideas. Thirdly, art keeps memories

alive. It captures moments from the past that we might forget otherwise. Also, art helps us

understand other people's points of view. It makes us more compassionate and tolerant. Plus, it can

make us feel better emotionally. It gives us a way to express our feelings, and it can help us heal.

Additionally, art promotes empathy and understanding by allowing us to see the world from

different perspectives. By experiencing art from diverse cultures and backgrounds, we gain insight

into the lives and experiences of others, fostering compassion and tolerance.

Moreover, art makes places look awesome! It adds color and life to our surroundings.

Lastly, it makes us think hard and solve problems. It challenges us to figure out what it all means.

In the end, art is super important in our lives. It makes us feel and think in different ways. Whether

it's expressing ourselves, keeping history alive, or just making things look cool, art has a big impact

on us. In conclusion, art plays a vital role in our lives, enriching us in countless ways. Whether

through self-expression, cultural preservation, or simply brightening our surroundings, its

importance cannot be overstated. Art is not just about what we see; it's about how it makes us feel

and think, shaping our experiences and perceptions of the world.
