INSTRUCTIONS
1. This paper consists of section A, B and C with a total number of ten (10) questions.
2. Answer all questions in section A and B, and only two (2) questions from section C.
3. Section A carries (16) marks, section B (54) marks and section C (30) marks.
4. Map extracted From HANANG (sheet 84/4) is provided.
5. All drawings must be in pencil.
6. Programmable calculators, cellular phones and any un authorized materials are not allowed in the
examination room.
7. Write your examination number on every page of your answer booklet (s).

(a) Carefully study the map extract of HANANG (sheet 84/4) provided and answer the questions as
follows:

i. Map has different scale which can help the map users to interpret the map features. As a map
user, express the map scale given by word.
ii. Modern travelers always use compass direction on their journey. From map given a traveler was
moving from the grid reference 720220 reached at 680180. Give the bearing from the started
point.
iii. From the map given, suggest the climate by giving two (2) evidences.
iv. From the climate named at (iii) above, what are the economic activities which can be supported
by the climate of the area. Give any four (4) points.
v. One cartographer constructing a map, there are some contents to consider.
(b) Provide two supportive contents of a topographical map provided.
(c) Mention two factors which affect the contents of the map given.

4. From the district crops stock, the following records were recorded for the 2020 – 2021 season which
are in tonnes.

(b) Present the data in most convenient bar graph showing how they differ from the average.
(c) Comment on given graph.
5. Form three students visited the river basin to observe the river profile, on their observation they observed
from the main river there is deviation of small channel divided from the main river and for a short
distance it joined again to the main river.
i. What is the name given to the features observed by the students.
ii. Give three conditions necessary which can lead the influence or occurrence of the observed
features.With the aid of diagram describe the features observed.
6. Mr. Kipalamoto decided to conduct his research at homestead where he prepared questions to the
respondents through e-mail and post cards. He succeeded to finalize his work. As a research expert,
explain how the method used can be both reliable and unreliable to the researcher? Six points.

7. Wanjiro is a good cartographer, she intended to produce a contour map of Simiyu.


(a) what type of survey method would you advise her to apply?
(b) Apart from producing a contour map, what are the other four (4) significances of the type of survey
you have mentioned in (a) above?.
8. Study carefully the photograph provided and then answer the questions that follow:

(a) What is the main activity taking place on the photograph?


(b) With two reasons, suggest the type of photograph shown above.
(c) Describe any four conditions supporting the above mentioned activity.
(d) How can man benefit from such activity you have mentioned in (a) above?

9. Tanzania citizens are questioning on the issue of royal tour which operated under her excellence president
Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan. As a geographer examine six (6) benefit of that project.

10. In 2022, Tanzania was conducted a population census which is very important to every Tanzanian toward
social-economic development. Justify this statement by using six (6) strong points.

11. In Tanzania suppliers fails to transport various goods to all parts of the country. As a Geographer suggest
what should be done to address the challenges facing transport sector in Tanzania. Five (5) points.
