11. Why do veins have valves while arteries do not?
OR
Name the pigment present in RBCs. What is its role?
SECTION C
Short Answer Type – 3 marks each (4 × 3 = 12 marks)
12. Draw a labeled diagram of human digestive system (main parts only) and explain the
function of any one gland associated with it.
13. Explain with an equation the process of photosynthesis. Describe any two factors affecting
the rate of photosynthesis.

16. Describe the double circulation of blood in humans with the help of a neat, labeled diagram.
17. Case Study:
Rahul conducted an experiment to show that saliva is necessary for starch digestion. He took
two test tubes – A and B. In A, he mixed starch solution and saliva; in B, only starch solution
and water. Both were left for 20 minutes. Iodine test was performed after that, and A did not
turn blue-black while B did.

• (d) Write one conclusion from this experiment. (1 mark)
18. Diagram/Reasoning Based:
Explain the structure and function of stomata in plants. How do guard cells regulate the
opening and closing of stomata? (Draw and label a neat diagram.)
