Pit length: 12–15 meters (to accommodate standard bus
length)
Pit width: 1–1.2 meters (sufficient for worker access)
Depth: 1.4–1.5 meters (for underbody access)

Location:
The fuel filling station is located towards the
Fuel Filling Station (Diesel Bunk)
northern part of the bus depot, isolated from the
passenger area.
It's a dedicated IOC (Indian Oil Corporation) outlet
inside the Koyambedu bus terminal campus.
Purpose:
Used for refueling MTC and SETC buses (diesel-
powered).
Ensures buses are refueled on-site for faster
turnaround and operational efficiency.
Safety & Design Standards:
Underground fuel tanks with proper spill
containment
Fire-resistant construction
24x7 CCTV and supervision
Safety signage and LED indicators
Minimum distance: 30 meters from any
passenger or public area (as per PESO norms)

Located on the western side of the terminus, near
the MTC (Metropolitan Transport Corporation)
Maintenance Pit (Service Bay) depot section.
Dedicated maintenance zones are provided
separately from public circulation and passenger
areas for safety.
Purpose:
Used for routine inspection, oil change, and
minor/major mechanical repairs of buses.
Buses are driven over a pit, allowing mechanics to
work from below the vehicle safely.
Standards:
Length: 12–15 meters (to suit standard bus length)
Width: 0.9–1.2 meters
Depth: 1.4–1.6 meters (enough for standing and
working comfortably)
Ventilation: Natural or mechanical ventilation
(exhaust fans)
Safety: Anti-slip surfaces, guardrails when not in
use, and fire extinguisher access

Located on the western side of the terminus, adjacent to the
Washing Station
fuel station and maintenance shed.
Placed in the service zone, isolated from the main passenger
movement areas for operational efficiency and hygiene..
Purpose:
Used for external cleaning of buses, especially long-distance
mofussil and MTC buses.
Ensures fleet hygiene and removes accumulated dust, dirt,
and grease before buses re-enter passenger areas.
Standards:
Bay Length: 12–15 meters (to accommodate full-size buses)
Bay Width: 3.5–4.0 meters
Drainage Slope: 1:100 for effective water runoff
Water Supply: Overhead/underground tanks with pressure
pumps
Drainage System: Equipped with oil interceptors and silt traps
to prevent clogging and pollution
Safety Measures:
Anti-slip surface on the wash floor
Adequate lighting
