At the end of the discussion the pupils will be able to;

b. Write the prime factors of a given number correctly

Please be seated properly. So before we proceed who number
can tell me what is our topic yesterday.
Okay very good, before we start I have numerals here
and tell me if is it prime or composite number.

thumbs down if it is composite number.

B. Motivation
So now that you understand the prime and composite
numbers, does anyone here have an idea what is our topic
for today? - Prime factor of a number teacher!

Okay Very good! Our topic today is all about find the prime
factor of a number. So before we proceed to our discussion
I have some numbers here that the product is 18.
6x3=18
9x2=18
2x9=18

C. Presentation
So let’s have an activity first, I will group you into 2 groups.
All you do is use the prime numbers listed on the board
(2,3,5,7) as factors. Find a combination of prime numbers
and multiply them and record the number sentence. Number Sentence Products
Write all your findings in a table or chart. You May go to 2x3 6
you respective groups and you may now start. 2x5 10

What you did earlier are the prime factors of the numbers.

Great! How about the 21? - 2 x 7 is the answer teacher!
How about the 105? - 3 x 5 x 7 teacher!

Given number is 36, what are its factors?
And how can we write 36 as a product of its prime factors?
- 36= 6 x 6

- 36= 2 x 2 x 3 x 3

I have a factor tree here, each group has two digit number. 48
Determine two factors of the given number, write them on
the first two boxes of the factor tree.

the next two boxes and continue extracting factors of the
