The 15 Invaluable Laws Of Growth
Lessson 1: You must know who
you are and what you want.
If you want to go
somewhere,
it's important to have
a map. In the same way,
if you want to grow as an
individual and reach your
full potential,
it is important that
you know and
understand yourself and
where you're going.
Lesson 2: Personal growth
won't just happen by itself,
it is not automatic.
Your hair grows by itself.
So do plants,
given enough water and
sunlight.
Personal growth is different –
it doesn't just happen
naturally over time.
Just as plants need light,
personal growth
requires that you be
intentional.
You have to think carefully
about what you want
and where you are headed in
order to get there.
Lesson 3: Be patient; real
growth is incremental
and undramatic.
Dramatic moments are
great for movies,
but it's the boring stuff that
makes us grow.
Real growth is slow and
tedious. It requires doing
small things every day,
even if you can't see
any progress right away.
You need to have patience
and be disciplined in order
to keep going when it's hard.
Learning and growing
are also important.
It is exciting to learn new
things, even if you
don't know what they're
going to be used for.
If you look at some of the
world's smartest
people, you will notice that
they are always
curious about everything
and keep asking
questions and learning
new things.
Slow and steady growth
might not be as
exciting as the big launches
we see in movies,
but it can lead to a better
life.
You'll have the
satisfaction of working on
something you love
every day, and knowing that
you're pursuing your dreams.
Keep moving, keep learning,
keep growing.
Lesson 4: To achieve your
dreams and visions, you
need to be strategic and
systematic.
Hard work and busyness
alone won't make
you successful.
You need to
have a strategy
in place that will help
you be more
productive,
and then develop
systems that
allow you to achieve
your goals.
Lesson 5: Painful experiences
can inspire growth.
Painful experiences cannot
be over looked
in life. We would prefer
to avoid them,
but sometimes they can
have positive
outcomes. For example, the
author had a heart attack
when he was
51 years old and
it forced him to start
exercising and dieting
before it was too late.
The author could have
decided to just enjoy
the time he had left when
he was diagnosed
with a heart attack. He could
have also gotten
angry at fate and wallowed
in self-pity. However,
neither of those reactions
would have helped
him live longer or led to any
kind of personal growth.
We cannot always
control painful
experiences, but we can
control the
way we react and also
make the best out of those
experience. If everything
always
goes well, we won't have
the motivation to grow
out of our comfort zone.
We need to face pain
in order to
get better and
move forward.
Lesson 6: Focus on developing
character, and external
success will follow.
Your character will affect
your success.
You can build good
character by being
honest and trustworthy.
It's not something
you're born with; it's
something that can
be developed.
Your character is what
will make people trust you,
invest in your ideas, buy
from you and remain
committed to you.
You have to focus on
developing yourself
from the inside out.
You can't just work
on your external
appearance and material
possessions; you also need
to invest in activities
that enrich your
emotional health
and soul.
You should also realize
that building
character is a lifelong
process and
will not be done in
a day.
Lesson 7: To grow more, you
need to contribute to others.
No person is an island.
Our lives
are lived in communities,
such as families
and groups of people we
associate with. These
communities help us
succeed, so our successes
are not ours alone;
they're shared
by the people who
helped us.
We should be grateful
for all the
support we get. It
will help us grow
and become better people.
We also need to give
back by supporting
others in their endeavors.
When you want people
to do things
for you, do the same kind
of thing for others.
The more you share
your gift, knowledge
or anything you have to
offer, the more
opportunity you create
for what you
gave to be multiplied
back to you.
What are the 3 lessons
you will begin to
apply immediately
in your life?
