Music: High School Musical 2

Characters: TBA

Taylor (Gabriella’s African-American gal pal): May I have your attention? I have an
announcement to make. It says that all Junior staff are required to work on show
night. No exceptions. I’m sorry, guys. It’s Fulton’s orders.

Chad: There is no way this is Fulton’s orders.

Kelsey: Unless Fulton suddenly has blond hair and wears designer flip-flops?

Gabriella: Excuse me. (Makes way through crowd and finds Sharpay)

Gabriella: Sharpay! *walk while calling out to Sharpay who is seated* Forget about
the rest of us! How about the fact that your brother worked hard for this show?

Sharpay: Oh Boo-hoo! He’ll be in the show! And don’t lecture me about Ryan. All
this while, you’ve been interfering with Troy’s future.

Gabriella: What?

Sharpay: I had to step in just to save Troy’s job!

Gabriella: I ’m not interested in what you think you ’re doing for Troy! Well, you ’re
messing with my friends, my summer and that’s not okay with me! What’s the
prize? Troy? No thanks, Sharpay. I’m done here.

(Sharpay leaves, Troy enters...)

Troy: Hey! What do you mean you’re done here?

Gabriella: I guess working together sounded good but plans change. And people
change. You keep blowing off your friends and missing dates!

Troy: No, no, no, no, no. I was only doing it for the scholarship. I meant what I said.

Gabriella: I’m sure you did, but I also meant what I said... that I wanted to
remember this summer, Troy.

Gotta Go My Own Way

Narrator: Immediately, the confused and heartbroken Troy looks back at his
decisions. At the 4thof July Midsummer’s Night Talent Show, he decides to set things
straight. Troy reconciles with Chad and the Wildcats, gets his old job back and tells
Sharpay that he can’t sing with her.

Ryan: Troy! I hate to see my sister crash and burn. Speaking of my sister, she wants
you to learn a new song.
Troy: Everyday. I can’t learn a new song!

Kelsey will help you with it.

(Kelsey pulls Troy then Troy goes to Sharpay)

Troy: (to Sharpay) Hey, why did you switch songs?

Sharpay: Switch songs? What?

Troy: Yeah, Ryan said... (looks at Ryan)

Sharpay: But I didn’t learn a new song.

Ryan: Exactly. Get dressed Troy. Break a leg!

(Mr. Fulton: And now it’s time for our five-time Star Dazzle Award winner, Miss
Sharpay Evans, singing this year with our assistant golf pro, Mr. Troy Bolton!)---
omit?

Troy goes out on stage and starts to sing Everyday

Everyday

Everybody bows
