This diagnostic code is registered when the machine's ECM does not receive expected information from the engine's ECM. use of the jack
check the machine and the ECM engine for other diagnostic codes related to the data link. If a diagnostic code
related is present, solve problems and fix what fails first.

The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:

The data transmission cables Cat to the engine ECM are open or the cables are shorted.

The wrong software is installed on an ECM.

The ECM of the engine or machine has failed. (ECM failure is unlikely.)

Test Step 1. Verify the hardware and the part numbers SOFTWARE

A. Check that the following information is correct:

The part number of the flash software for the engine ECM

The part number of the flash software for the ECM Machine

The engine ECM part number

The part number of the ECM machine

Note: Use SIS Web to find the correct reference numbers for the ECM software (flash file). To download the file
Actual ECM flash, select "Software File Service" on the SIS web home page.

Expected Result:

All reference numbers are correct.

results:

OKAY - All reference numbers are correct. Proceed to Step 2 Test.

IT IS NOT OK - Not all part numbers are correct.

Repair: The installed ECM motor or the ECM has the wrong part number or the Flash software.
Incorrect. Replace the engine ECM or replace the ECM Machine that is incorrect. Replace the ECM with a module.
that has the correct part number. The correct software will flash. See the check and adjustment, 'control module'
electronic (ECM) - "flash program" to obtain additional information.

Test Step 2. Inspect the harness connections

A. Turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position.

B. Inspect all harness connections related to the Cat data transmission. Make sure that the
connectors should be clean and tight.

C. Check the connectors for proper mating. Ensure that all seals are present and in place.

D. Check the damage or abrasion signal deck.

E. Check the wires in the connector. Make sure the wires are securely fastened in the connector.
Be careful not to pull the cable out of the connector.

F. Check the exposed wires in the connectors for cuts or signs of abrasion.

G. Check for moisture inside the connector.

H. Check for dirty connectors or corroded contacts.

I. check each pin and each socket of the machine harness connectors. Make sure the contacts are installed
Correctly. The contacts must fit properly when the two connector pieces are placed together.

Expected Result:

The connectors of the machine installation are tight and free of corrosion.

results:

OKAY - The machine installation connectors are tight and free of corrosion. Proceed to step testing.
3.

IT IS NOT OK - The connectors of the machine installation are in need of repair.

Repair: Repair the machine's hammer or change the machine's hammer.

STOP

Step 3. Check for short circuits test

A. The disconnect switch remains in the OFF position.

B. Disconnect the connectors of the machine installation from all electronic control modules that use data transmission.
Cat.

C. In the harness connector for the ECM Machine, measure the resistance between the contact of connector J1-33.
(wire 893-GN) and all the contacts used in the harness connector for the ECM. Carry out
the same measurements for J1-43 (wire 892-BR).

Expected Result:

Each measurement of resistance is greater than 5000 ohms.

results:

Okay - Each of the resistance measurements is greater than 5000 ohms. The resistance of the loop circuits is correct.
Continue the survey Step 4.

NOT OK - One of the resistance measurements is less than 5000 ohms. The machine harness has failed.

Repair: There is a short between contacts J1-33 (wire 893-GN) or J1-43 (wire 892-BR) of the Cat data link.
and the circuit with low resistance measurement. Repair the machine harness or change the machine harness.

STOP

Test Step 4. Check for open Braga

A. The disconnect switch remains in the OFF position.

B. electronic control modules All related are disconnected from the machine harness.

C. Check the resistance of the Cat data link circuit in the machine's harness:

Measure the resistance between J1-23 contact of the engine ECM connector (cable 893-GN) and the connector

contact J1-33 (wire 893-GN) from the machine's ECM.

Measure the resistance between J1-24 contact of the connector (cable 892-BR) of the engine ECM and J1-43 contact of the

connector (cable 892-BR) of the machine's ECM.

Expected Result:

The resistance measures less than 5 ohms.

results:

OKAY - The resistance is below 5 ohms. The data link circuit Cat in the machine harness is correct. Proceed to the
Test Step 5.

IT IS NOT OK - The resistance is greater than 5 ohms. The machine harness has failed.

Repair: The Cat data link circuit is open in the machine harness. Repair the machine harness or change it.
machine deck.

STOP

Test Step 5. Check if the RESTO diagnostic code

A. Inspect the contacts of the harness connectors and clean the contacts.

Reference The verification and adjustment, "Electrical connector - Inspect"

B. connect all the connectors of the harness.

C. Turn on the disconnect switch and the ignition key switch to the ON position.

D. operate the machine.

E. Check the status of the diagnostic code CID 0590 09 FMI.

Resultado Esperado

The diagnostic code CID 0590 FMI 09 is active.

results:

The diagnosis code CID 0590 FMI 09 is active. The diagnosis code has not been corrected. The engine or
the ECM machine may have failed.

Repair: ECM failure is unlikely. Please perform this procedure again. Use the jack and conduct a 'Test of
fluctuation in the data link cable bundle. The motion test can detect momentary short circuits or
intermittent and opens in the bundle of cables. If no problem can be found, motor replacement may be necessary.
continuation, or ECM machine. Before replacing an ECM, contact your Technical Communication (TC) dealer for your
possible consultation with Caterpillar. This consultation can greatly reduce repair time and costs. If an ECM needs to be
replaced, refers to the verification and adjustment, 'electronic control module (ECM) - Replace'.

moment.

Repair: The initial diagnostic code was likely caused by a bad connection or a short circuit in one of the
connectors of the harness that was disconnected and reconnected. Resume normal operation of the machine.
