Book Report Guidelines
Note:
Before writing their book report, students should be familiar with the
following elements:
1. Title of the book
2. Author of the book
3. Plot - Discuss and write in the simple present tense
4. Characters – Definition (behaviors/Personalities) and identification of
the characters in the book
5. Nature of the story (Fiction/Nonfiction)
6. Relevance - Relationship between the story and the students'
experiences
7. Lessons - How lessons are derived from the story
Required Content:
1. Introduction:
- Include the title, author, date of publication, and publishing house.
- Provide a brief introduction to the book.
2. Plot Summary:
- Write a simple summary of the plot.
3. Real-Life Connections:
- Relate the story to real-life situations.
4. Lessons Learned:
- Describe the lessons learned from the events in the story.
5. Personal Reflections:
- Explain how reading the book made you feel (e.g., excited, sad, afraid).
Marking Criteria:
- Paragraph Structure: Writing should be arranged in paragraphs
(block format).
- Punctuation: Use a variety of punctuation marks correctly and
appropriately.
- Clarity and Flow: Ensure ideas are clear and flow logically.
- Handwriting: Must be neat and legible.
