The Enlightenment Period was a period between the 17th and 18th century, that promoted art,
philosophy, and politics. It helped in shaping the modern government system and in making multiple
technological advancements in its time.

WHERE DID THE IDEA COME FROM?

The idea of the Enlightenment Period was originally made when the Greek and Romans
wanted an efficient government system that valued democracy, philosophy, and reason.

Martin Luther and a German monk put up a list of 95 complaints on the doors of a Catholic
Cathedral, which addressed the Church's corruption and eventually led the public to start
questioning the Church's legitimacy, marking the start of the Church Reformation.

During the 16th century, there were lots of wars happening around Europe, which
made political scholars rethink how the government and society could be better
organised.

In the early 17th century, Francis Bacon showed that scientific


breakthroughs require experiments and research instead of religion. This
helped pave the way for the public to consider more on rationality and
