Conditional If Type 2

Usage:

Hypothetical situation – If I had a million dollars now, I

would buy a boat!
Unexpected or imaginary {in the present or future}
Dealing with type two, we need to know it deals with
imaginary situation
NOT IN THE PAST, but in the present or future.
If I won the lottery, I would buy one hundred

mansions.
If she had more free time, she would get a pet.
If I could speak Spanish, I would apply for that
position.
I would see a doctor if I were you.
She would travel the world if she had a passport.
The above two examples are in type two which means
they are imaginary situations.

Please Note:
It is correct, and very common, to say "if I were"
instead of "if I was" (subjunctive mood).
You can also use modals in the main clause instead of
"would" to express the degree of certainty,
permission, or a recommendation about the outcome.
