New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an uncharacteristically brief, one-line
statement Tuesday, wishing ‘good health’ to Jagdeep Dhankhar, who abruptly resigned as
Vice President of India on Monday evening, fuelling theories of a chill in relations between
the government and the occupant of the second-highest constitutional post before his
exit.

“Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji has got many opportunities to serve our country in various
capacities, including as the Vice President of India. Wishing him good health,” Modi

posted on X, nearly 13 hours after Dhankhar announced his resignation while citing his
need to “prioritise health care and abide by medical advice”.
