WORKSHEET - 1 FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2021 - 2022

SUBJECT : SCIENCE (PHYSICS) CLASS – X DATE : ____________

TOPIC : LIGHT – REFLECTION

1. A square wire of side 3cm is placed 25cm away from a concave mirror of focal length 10 cm, what
is the area enclosed by the image of the wire? The centre of the square lies on the principal axis and
is perpendicular to the axis.
2. An object is placed 15cm from a convex mirror of radius of curvature 90 cm. Calculate the position
of image and its magnification.
3. A 4.5 cm needle is placed 12cm away from a convex mirror of focal length 15cm. Give the location
of the image and its magnification.
4. An object is kept at a distance of 5cm in front of a convex mirror of focal length 10 cm. Give the
position, magnification and nature of the image.
5. A concave mirror produces three times magnified real image of an object placed 10 cm in front of it.
Where is the image located?
6. An object is placed at a distance of 10 cm from a convex mirror of focal length 15 cm. Find the
position and the nature of the image.
7. An object 5cm in length is placed at a distance of 20 cm in front of a convex mirror of radius of
curvature 30cm. Find the position of the image, its nature and size.
8. An object of size 7cm is placed at 27 cm in front of a concave mirror of focal length 18 cm. At what
distance from the mirror should a screen be placed so as to obtain a sharp image of the object? Also
find the size and nature of the image.
9. A convex mirror used on an auto mobile has 3m radius of curvature. If a bus is located at 5m from
this mirror, find the position, nature and size of the image.
10. An object 4 cm in size, is placed 25cm in front of a concave mirror of focal length 15cm. At what
distance from the mirror should a screen be placed in order to obtain a sharp image? Find the nature
and size of the image.
11. The radius of curvature of a convex mirror used on a moving automobile is 2.0 m. A truck is coming
behind it at a constant distance of 3.5 m. Calculate the position, the size of the image relative to the
size of the truck. What is the nature of the image?
12. An object 3cm high is placed at a distance of 10 cm in front of a concave mirror of focal length
20 cm. Find the position, nature and the size of the image formed.
13. Find the position, nature and size of the image of an object 3cm high placed at a distance of 9 cm
from a concave mirror of focal length 18 cm.
14. An object is placed at a distance of 12cm in front of a concave mirror. It forms a real image four
times larger than the object. Calculate the image distance from the mirror.
15. An object 5cm in size is placed at a distance of 20 cm from a concave mirror of focal length 15cm.
At what distance from the mirror, should a screen be placed to get the sharp image? Also calculate
size of the image.
