SCIENCE PROJECT: RESOURCE DEPLETION
Resource Depletion is the exhaustion of raw substances within a
region. Resources are often divided between renewable sources
and non-renewable resources. We faced speedy resource
depletion degradation and shortages in the Indus river basin in
Punjab. It is caused due to various reasons for example Excessive
or unnecessary use of resourcs, Overpopulation, Slash and burn
agricultural practices, Soil Erosion, Irrigation, Mining for oil and
minerals, Drainage of wetlands, Forestry. Some effects of
resource depletion are increase in a mixture of harmful particles
and gases in the air, Affects health, Loss of forests, Shortage of
oil and water, Depletion of elements and minerals, Extinction of
animals and plants and some Economic effects. Solution for this
could be many but some of them are Reduction in consumption
of resources, one should Switch from car to other transportation
for travelling, Recycle and reuse the waste resources, Farming in
sustainable ways reduce resource depletion, Organic gardening
and can Stop deforestation. At last we can say that There will be
a depletion of biodiversity due to the extinction and the death of
living organisms. A natural disaster like drought, flood etc., will
also occur upon lack of natural resources.
The loss of natural resources is a serious concern because of the
adverse effect on the ecosystem. Due to the mass utilisation of
non-renewable resources, natural assets are being depleted at
an unsustainable rate.
