TOPIC PROPOSAL 1: Investigating the Effectiveness of AI in Oral
Communication Skills of a Students
Background:
The role of Artificial Intelligence in Education has grown rapidly, with AI
tools now being used to improve various aspects of learning, including oral
Communication Skills. Oral Communication encompasses listening, speaking,
and interaction skills, all of which are critical in academic, professional, and
social settings. AI applications, such as speech recognition systems, virtual
assistants, and chatbots, are increasingly being incorporated into
educational environments to provide personalized feedback, real-time
assessment, and practical speaking opportunities for student’s.
In the field of education, AI is increasingly being explored as a
promising tool to support and enhance language learning, particularly in the
development of learners' communication skills. Artificial Intelligence offers
the potential for personalized, interactive, and adaptive learning experiences
that cater to individual learners' needs and preferences. In today's globalized
world, communication skills are crucial for personal and professional success.
With the rapid advancement of technology, Artificial Intelligence has
emerged as a powerful tool in education, including in learning. According to
researchers Shubhendu and Vijay, these software systems “make decisions
which normally require human level of expertise” and help people anticipate
problems or deal with issues as they come up.
In recent years, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into various
fields of education has gained significant attention. With the advancement of
AI technologies, educational tools have become increasingly sophisticated,
offering personalized learning experiences and innovative approaches to skill
development. Artificial Intelligence offers a promising alternative by
providing tools that can simulate real-world communication, offer real-time
feedback, and track progress over time. AI-driven platforms, such as speech
recognition software, language processing tools, and virtual communication
simulators, allow students to practice and refine their Oral Communication
skills in a controlled.
According to the study of Yim & Su (2024), Artificial Intelligence is
rapidly transforming various sectors, and education is no exception as AI
technologies continue to advance, their potential to reshape the educational
landscape becomes increasingly apparent. AI facilitates communication in

ways that break down barriers, both linguistically and geographically. AI-
driven language translation services allow people to communicate in
different languages in real-time, fostering global collaboration. AI-powered
tools, like virtual assistants, chatbots, and speech recognition software,
improve accessibility for people with disabilities, making technology and
information more inclusive.
Through the capabilities of machine learning and natural language
processing, AI is able to pinpoint errors, mispronunciations, and areas in
need of improvement within a learner's spoken language Jia and Zhang
(2018). This advanced technology can facilitate personalized feedback,
enabling tailored practice that enhances pronunciation, fluency, and overall
speaking skills. By analyzing vast amounts of educational data, AI can tailor
learning experiences to individual students' needs, providing targeted
interventions and fostering a more engaging and effective learning
environment Wang et al. (2024).
The aim of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of Artificial
Intelligence in students' oral communication skills. This study seeks to
understand how AI technologies, such as speech recognition, virtual
simulations, and real-time feedback tools, contribute to enhancing students'
verbal expression, confidence, and overall communication proficiency.
Additionally, the research, examine the students’ perceptions and
experiences with AI technologies in the context of oral communication
training, exploring factors such as ease of use, and engagement. By
surveying and analyzing existing research, studies and article aims to
provide an overview of the current state of knowledge and identify key
findings, trends, and gaps in the field.
