2.03.00 Levelling
Bottoms of excavation shall be cut sharp and true to line and level. Undercutting
shall not be permitted. The last 300mm in soil / rock before reaching the required
level shall be excavated carefully by such equipment so that the soil / rock at the
required final level will be left in its natural condition.
ISSUE
R0
The Contractor shall control the ground in the vicinity of all excavations so that
the surface of the ground will be properly sloped or dyked to prevent surface water
from running into the excavated areas during construction. The Contractor shall
have to constantly pump out any water collected in excavated pits and other areas
due to rain water, springs, drain, etc. and maintain dry working conditions at all
times until the excavation, placement of reinforcement, shuttering, concreting,
waterproofing, testing, backfilling is completed. The Contractor shall remove all
slush / muck from the excavated areas to keep the work area dry. Sludge pumps,
if required, shall be employed by the Contractor for this purpose.

area of excavation to size of the individual footings, in mass excavation area in
between the two foundations will also be excavated. Mass excavation will be
carried out up to a depth of shallowest foundations of the building / structure for
which mass excavation is undertaken. Excavation for the foundations (within
mass excavation area) which are deeper compared to surrounding shallower
foundations shall be treated as localized excavation / excavation described in
clause 2.0.0. Based on plant layout and past experience, it is envisaged that
excavations for the following area / buildings will be carried out as mass
excavations. However, during site execution if it is felt by Employer that mass
excavation would be advantageous for a particular structure, contractor would be
