Information and Resources
This assignment will span several modules.

1. Construct a concept map that addresses this focus question:

"What are the relationships between a clinician; a patient;

a patient's record in an EHR; data, information, and
knowledge; and databases, standards, vocabularies,
evidence-based medicine, clinical decision support, and
computerized provider order entry?"
2. Examples of clinicians are physician, nurse, pharmacist, radiologist,
dietitian, respiratory therapist, pathologist, physical therapist, and so on.
3. Instructions will be posted at each module for what you should add to your
concept map from that module.
For Module 3, your concept map should include, at least, the
following concepts:

o Classification
o Data
o Information
o Interoperability
o Knowledge
o Meaning
o SNOMED-CT
o Standard
o Structured
o Vocabulary
o Wisdom

4. Spelling:

 The check for concepts is automated. If a concept is not

present as assigned, it will be counted as missing.
 Spell the terms EXACTLY as shown - do not change singular
to plural or vice versa.
 Using an abbreviation, acronym, or variant spelling instead
of or in addition to an assigned term or vice versa will be
counted as missing.
 For example, if assigned “electronic health record”, do not
use “electronic health record (EHR)” or “EHR”.
 Likewise, if assigned “structured”, do not use “structure”.

5. Use https://comparetwolists.com/Links to an external site. to check your

list of concepts.
6. If you have questions or need further directions, please post in the
Question and Answer discussion forum.

Tips:

 There is no one right concept map, so build your map to show how
you think of the material.
 You may have to work on it for a while, stop and go back and read
some of the resources again.
 The assignment will require iterations, much like programming or
outlining material.
 Make regular backups of your file.
1. Go to your Documents folder (this might be called My
Documents)
2. Find the folder named My Cmaps
3. Your concept map file should be in this folder
4. Email the file to yourself or save to a cloud service such as
Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive
