Narrator (2)
Here’s a creative and meaningful activity you can conduct during a school assembly to mark
Environment Day with the theme of Environmental Protection:
“Green Promise Tree” – A Live Pledge
Activity
To make students reflect on individual actions for environmental protection and publicly commit to a
sustainable habit.
Step 1: Introduction by Narrator
(Student):
“Today, we’re going to grow a very special tree—not with water and sunlight, but with promises! Each
leaf added to this tree will represent a student's personal pledge to protect the Earth.”
Step 2: Writing the Pledges
A few pre-selected students come up on stage.
Each child writes one simple environmental action on their leaf. Examples:
o “I will not waste water.”
o “I will switch off lights when not in use.”
o “I will use a cloth bag.”
o “I will plant a sapling with my family this week.
Step 3: Attaching Leaves to the Tree
The children read out their pledge loudly and stick the leaf onto the cardboard tree (or
hang it on branches of a real tree).
Step 4: Invite Participation
Announce that every class will get a chance throughout the week to contribute to the “Green
Promise Tree.”
A small chart can be kept near the tree to count the number of green pledges
