Quick Math Tricks & Speed Calculation Guide

Mental Math Foundations

- Know tables up to 20×20

- Memorize squares (1-30), cubes (1-20)

- Know fractions as percentages (e.g., 1/2 = 50%)

Vedic Math Tricks

-> Vertically and Crosswise (23×14):

Step 1: 3×4 = 12 -> write 2, carry 1

Step 2: (2×4 + 3×1) + carry = 12 -> write 2, carry 1

Step 3: 2×1 = 2 + 1 = 3 -> Answer: 322

-> Base Method (97×96):

Base = 100 -> Diffs: -3 and -4

(97 - 4) | (3×4) = 93 | 12 -> Answer: 9312

Squaring Tips

-> Numbers ending in 5 (e.g., 85^2):

(8×9) | 25 = 7225

-> Use (a + b)^2:

43^2 = (40+3)^2 = 1600 + 240 + 9 = 1849

Multiplication Shortcuts

-> Multiply by 11 (52×11):

5 (5+2) 2 = 572

Division and Estimation

-> Estimate and adjust (492÷6):
