A. READING
My friend is named Richard. He is a 17-year-old boy from Latvia who lives in a small apartment in
Baldone with his mother and younger brother. He is a full-time student at RTK, where he studies IT
because he wants to be a programmer. But apart from that, he has a lot of hobbies. He spends most of
his spare time taking photos of nature and animals or reading articles on the Internet about the newest
technologies. He really hates cooking and would rather eat out or order a pizza than cook a simple
meal for himself or his family.
Richard has short, dark, curly hair and deep green eyes. He is a tall, very well-built teenager because
he likes doing sports like swimming, jogging and football [“soccer” in American English]. Apart
from being fit, he is also quite handsome. He is a very optimistic person and smiles a lot. Richard can
always tell a good joke and he thinks that “the glass is half full, not half empty”. Though apart from
that he can be very moody, and if you catch him in a bad mood, then it can ruin your day.
Richard is very helpful to his family and closest friends. He can always listen to somebody’s
problems and try to help. His best friend is his brother Andres with whom he can share his deepest
