ENGI1030 ONSHAPE PRACTICE LAB TEST WINTER 2025

BEFORE STARTING READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY: STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO


INTERPRET & EXECUTE INSTRUCTIONS/SUBMISSION STEPS INDEPENDENTLY &
CORRECTLY
No questions will be taken- all dimensions are provided.
NOTE: Your personal ONSHAPE account is unique to you & it records all modelling,
assembly, and drawing steps. Your account will be used to grade your work. Do not
share work.
During the Onshape practice test period students shall not share information nor files.
Students will work independently & submit their own work.

TEST FOLDER & DROP BOX OPENS: SAT. MAR. 15 at 6 PM


GIVE YOURSELF 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO DEADLINE TO SUBMIT (late files not graded)

BEGIN SUBMITTING TO BRIGHTSPACE 30 MINUTES BEFORE TEST END TIME.


TEST FOLDER & DROP BOX CLOSES: SAME DAY AT 11:59 PM (do not open
Onshape document after submitting)
Step 1:
START THE PRACTICE TEST BY OPENING TEAM SHARED ONSHAPE PRACTICE TEST
START FILE, COPY THE WORKSPACE ADDING YOUR NAME AND SECTION NUMBER
TO THE FILE NAME.

Academic misconduct: sharing/copied work will result in a zero grade.

Your submission will be a single document will be shared by you ACCORDING TO
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS. It will show all your test work for sketches, models,
assemblies, drawings, and images/links and any other test work required.

2. ONSHAPE DOCUMENT SHARE
• ALL TEST WORKINGS MUS T BE IN ONE ONSHAPE DOCUMENT
(PARTS/ASSEMBLIES/DRAWINGS/LINK)
• TEST DOCUMENT MUST BE VERSIONED
• TEST DOCUMENT (LINK SHARING) LINK MUST BE COPIED TO THE COMMENTS BOX IN
BRIGHTSPACE
• TEST DOCUMENT WILL BE SHARED TO INDIVIDUALS: ONLY WITH LAB INSTRUCTOR
(1030cad) AND all TAs GIVING ALL PERMISSIONS LISTED: COPY, LINK DOCUMENT,
SHARE, COMMENT, & CAN EDIT

*IMPORTANT AFTER SUBMISSION: DO NOT RE-OPEN TEST FILE AT ANY TIME- DO NOT EDIT YOUR TEST
FILE AT ANY TIME ONSHAPE RECORDS ANY AND ALL CHANGES AFTER TEST TIME- ALTERING YOUR TEST
WILL RESULT IN A ZERO GRADE*

YOUR COMPLETED SUBMISSION SHOULD CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING:

1. A fully defined master sketch for related components (look at the section view to plan approach).

2. A multi-part part studio.

3. A completed assembly with duplicate parts & fasteners, relevant parts grouped, one component
fixed, and mates.

4. DRAWING 1: ASSEMBLY DRAWING to include:


o BILL OF MATERIALS WITH A MASS COLUMN FOR EACH COMPONENT
o BOM PROPERLY ORDERED
o ALL VIEWS: DETAIL, SECTION, & OTHER VIEWS
o CORRECT VIEW TYPES
o DIMENSIONS AS SHOWN WITH CENTRELINES & CENTREMARKS
o PART CALLOUTS & HOLE CALLOUTS
o NOTES & SYMBOLS
o COMPLETED TITLE BLOCK & CORRECT SCALES (1:3 IN NOT A STANDARD SCALE)
o CALCULATE TOTAL MASS
o CLEAN UP THE DRAWING
o YOUR NAME & SECTION NUMBER
o ANY OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION AS SHOWN IN THE ASSMEBLY TEST PAGE

5. DRAWING 2: MASTER SKETCH DRAWING: one view inserted of the master sketch layout, the
second view is an inserted screenshot showing the fully defined sketch with dimensions.

6. DRAWING 3: DETAILED DRAWING: a detailed drawing of either the Wheel (also called the Idler)
OR the U-Bracket with a minimum of 3 views. This drawing shall include all
dimensions/callouts/notes required to manufacture the part and respect all drafting standards
covered in the lab.

7. One Onshape PDF of Assembly Drawing & one image of the master sketch.
