3. Answer the questions using pie chart.
a) Find angle of each interval.
7
For School, 24 x 360o = 15 x 7 = 105o
8
For Sleep, 24 x 360o = 15 x 8 = 120o
2
For Others, 24 x 360o = 15 x 2 = 30o
2
For HW, 24 x 360o = 15 x 2 = 30o
2
For TV, x 360o = 15 x 2 = 30o
24
3
For Playing, 24 x 360o = 15 x 3 = 45o
b) How much angle of sleeping is more than school?
Sleeping is more than school by = 120 o – 105 o = 15o
c) How much angle of playing is less than sleep?
Playing is less than Sleep by = 120 o – 45 o = 75o
d) Find the sum of angles of HW, TV, Sleep.
Sum of angles = 120o + 30o + 30o = 180o
4. One card is drawn from a deck of 52 cards, well shuffled. Calculate the probability that the
card will:
(a) be an ace.
(b) not be an ace.
Std: VIII / Mathematics / Ch. 4 / 2024-25 Page 3 of 4
Solution: Well-shuffling ensures equally likely outcomes.
(i) There are 4 aces in a deck.
Let E be the event the card drawn is ace.
The number of favourable outcomes to the event E = 4
The number of possible outcomes = 52
Therefore, P(E) = 4/52 = 1/13
(ii) Let F is the event of ‘card is not an ace’
The number of favourable outcomes to F = 52 – 4 = 48
The number of possible outcomes = 52
Therefore, P(F) = 48/52 = 12/13
1 12
OR P(F) = 1 − 13 = 13
