Some people believe that travelling to other countries is essen-

tial to understand their culture, while others think that it is pos-


sible to learn everything through books, films, and the internet.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In today’s world, people have many ways to learn about different cul-
tures.
Some maintain that traveling is necessary to undoubtedly understand
another country’s way of life, whereas others argue that books, movies
and the internet are enough. I completely agree that traveling is essen-
tial to gain a deep and real understanding of a different traditions and so-
cieties.

Firstly, traveling allows people to undergo culture directly. By being


present in a country, individuals can interact with local people, observe
their customs and participate in festivals and traditional activities. These
real-life experience provide a much deeper understanding than what can
be learned from reading and watching. For instance, someone who is
from another country and attends the local festival in India will obtain
much more insights about Indian values and traditions than someone
who only watches videos about it online. The emotions, atmosphere,
smells and sounds can only be fully appreciated through personal experi-
ence

Secondly, traveling helps people see the reality of a culture beyond me-
dia stereotypes. Books and films often present a simplified or biased ver-
sion of another country, but when people travel they can see how daily
life actually works. They may discover that people are more welcoming
or open-minded than expected. This helps break down prejudice and
builds a more accurate and respectful understanding of the culture. Addi-
tionally, experiencing cultural differences in person teaches valuable life
skills such as open-mindedness, adaptability, and empathy.

In conclusion, although books, films, and the internet can provide basic
knowledge about different cultures, I strongly believe that traveling is
necessary to truly understand them. It allows people to connect directly
with others and gain a much deeper and more realistic cultural experi-
ence.
