What is SBI PO?
The SBI PO (Probationary Officer) is one of the most prestigious banking exams in India.
Conducted annually by the State Bank of India, it recruits entry-level officers (management
cadre) for its branches across India.

Training Period: 2 years
Postings: Anywhere in India (transferable job)
Group & Classification
Group: Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I)
Classification: Equivalent to a Group B gazetted officer in authority and pay.
Note: SBI PO is not a government employee post, but a public sector officer.
Promotion Path
Assistant Manager (PO) → Deputy Manager → Manager → Chief Manager → Assistant
General Manager → Deputy General Manager → General Manager → Chief General Manager
→ MD/Chairman
Salary & Perks
Basic Pay: ₹41,960/- (with 4 advance increments)
Gross Monthly Salary: ₹65,000–₹75,000 approx.
Perks: Lease rental, travel allowance, medical, petrol, mobile, furniture allowance etc.
Selection Process
1. Prelims Exam (Qualifying):
- English, Quant, Reasoning (100 marks)
- Duration: 1 hour
2. Mains Exam:
- Objective: 200 marks
- Descriptive (Essay + Letter): 50 marks
- Total: 250 marks
3. Interview:
- Group Exercise: 20 marks
- Personal Interview: 30 marks
Final Selection = Mains (75%) + Interview (25%)
