ANTI-PHOSPHOLIPID ANTIBODY PANEL

Clinical Significance: The Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome (APS) is a clinical-


pathologic correlation that includes a clinical event (e.g. thrombosis, pregnancy loss,
thrombocytopenia).
Specimen Requirements:
1. Let the patient fast for at least 6 hours.
2. Collect 4 mL of blood in a red top plain tube and 2 tubes of light blue top tube with 4
mL blood each.
3. Centrifugate for 15 minutes and separate serum/plasma from packed cells.
4. Pack as per temperature requirement and send-out to Bloodworks.

LYMPHOCYTE SUBSET ENUMERATION (LSE)


Note: No fasting requirement.
Specimen Requirements:
1. Collect 4 mL of whole blood in a green top tube (Heparin) and another 4 mL with
EDTA. Mix the blood thoroughly after it is drawn from the patient to prevent clots.
2. Run CBC and send a copy of the results to Bloodworks.
3. Transport blood at room temperature. Do not refrigerate.
4. Results will be released after 2-3 working days.

LYMPHOCYTE ANTIBODY TEST (LAT)


Note: Please schedule the sample collection and transport from Monday to Thursday only.
Specimen Requirements:
1. Let the patient fast for at least 6 hours.
2. Collect 4 mL of blood in a red top plain tube and separate the serum.
3. Transport serum samples with gel pack.

VITAMIN D, FT3, FT4, TSH


Note: No fasting requirement.
Specimen Requirements:
1. Collect 4 mL blood in a red top tube.
2. Separate the serum from the packed cells.
3. Transport at ref temperature with gel ice pack.
4. Results will be released after 5 working days.

ACA IGG/IGM, BETA 2 GLYCOPROTEIN IGG/IGM, IMMUNOGLOBULIN (IGG,


IGA, IGM, IGE)
Specimen Requirements:
1. Let the patient fast for at least 4 hours.

3. Separate the serum from the packed cells.
4. Transport at ref temperature with gel ice pack.
5. Results will be released after 5 working days.

APTT, DRVVT (CONFIRM/SCREEN), KCT, LAC (DRVVT, APTT, KCT)


Specimen Requirements:
1. Let the patient fast for at least 4 hours.
2. Collect 2 blue top tubes with 4 mL blood each.
3. Separate the plasma from the packed cells.
4. Transport at ref temperature with gel ice pack.
5. Results will be released after 3 working days.

ANTI-THYROGLOBULIN, ANTI-PEROXIDASE
Specimen Requirements:
1. Let the patient fast for at least 4 hours.
2. Collect 4 mL blood in a red top tube.
3. Separate the serum from the packed cells.
4. Transport at ref temperature with gel ice pack.
5. Results will be released after 5 working days.

ANTI-SPERM ANTIBODY
Specimen Requirements:
1. Let the patient fast for at least 4 hours.
2. Collect 4 mL blood in a red top tube.
3. Separate the serum from the packed cells.
4. Transport at ref temperature with gel ice pack.
5. Results will be released after 5 working days.
