Introduction

Football, known as soccer in some parts of the world, is the worlds most popular sport. Played in over 200

countries and followed by billions, footballs simplicity, fast pace, and thrilling unpredictability make it a

universally loved game. From dusty streets and school playgrounds to massive stadiums and global

tournaments, football transcends cultures, languages, and borders. The games spirit lies in teamwork,

strategy, and skill, making it a sport that can be played and enjoyed by all.

History of Football

The origins of football date back over 2,000 years to ancient civilizations like China (Cuju), Greece

(Episkyros), and Rome (Harpastum). However, modern football began to take shape in 19th-century England.

In 1863, the Football Association (FA) was founded in England, which standardized the rules of the game.

This event marked the formal beginning of association football. The sport quickly spread across Europe and

South America through British influence, colonialism, and trade. FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football

Association) was established in 1904 to oversee international competition. The first FIFA World Cup took

place in 1930 in Uruguay. Since then, football has grown into the most watched and played sport globally.

Ground and Ball Specifications

A standard football field is 100110 meters long and 6475 meters wide. It includes the center circle, penalty

area, goal area, and corner arcs. The goalposts are 7.32 meters (24 feet) wide and 2.44 meters (8 feet) high,

and the surface is usually grass or artificial turf. A football has a circumference of 6870 cm, weighs 410450

grams, and is made of synthetic leather with a rubber or latex bladder. It is inflated to a pressure of 0.6 1.1

Each team has 11 players, structured into: Goalkeeper (last line of defense), Defenders (center-backs,

participates in AFC Asian Cups and SAFF Championships.
