1. Introduction
The computer has become a vital tool in our daily lives. But it didn't appear suddenly - it evolved

through centuries. From manual calculating tools to today's AI-powered systems, the evolution of

computers shows how human innovation has transformed the world.

2. Early Calculating Devices

Abacus: First known tool for calculation (3000 BC).

Pascaline (1642): Invented by Blaise Pascal, could add and subtract.

Analytical Engine (1837): Designed by Charles Babbage, it had basic features of a modern
computer.

3. History of Computer Development

Computers didn't start as what we see today. The journey began with mechanical machines and

evolved into electronic digital systems.

4. Generations of Computers
First Generation (1940-1956): Used vacuum tubes. Huge size, slow speed. Example: ENIAC

Second Generation (1956-1963): Used transistors. Smaller, more reliable. Example: IBM 7094

Third Generation (1964-1971): Used integrated circuits. Faster, more efficient. Example: IBM 360

Fourth Generation (1971-Present): Used microprocessors. PCs introduced. Example: Intel 4004

chip

Fifth Generation (Present & Beyond): Focused on Artificial Intelligence. Features: voice recognition,

robotics. Example: AI assistants like Siri, Alexa

5. Timeline of Key Inventions

1642 - Pascaline - Blaise Pascal

1837 - Analytical Engine - Charles Babbage

1946 - ENIAC - Mauchly & Eckert

1971 - First Microprocessor - Intel

6. Impact of Computers on Society

Transformed communication (emails, social media)

Changed industries like education, medicine, defense, and business

Automation, data storage, and fast calculations became easy

7. Conclusion
The computer has undergone massive transformation - from simple calculators to smart, intelligent
machines. With continuous innovation, the future of computers promises even greater

advancements.
