UNIFORM
• Players will be color-coded to their academic level.
• The players number Any one- or two-digit number as long as no the same number.
SCORING
• A basket made from within the arc will count as two (2) points. A basket made from outside
the arc will count as three (3) points.
• Free throws count as (1) one point. All shooting fouls will shoot two, unless it was a 2-
point attempt (2 free throws) or 3-point attempt (3 free throws).
FOULS
• Foul out on 5 (personal and technical)
SUBSTITUTIONS
• A player may be replaced and allowed to re-enter the game as a substitute during the same

BASKETBALL CONDUCT

• Fighting will not be permitted at any time. Abusive conduct or fighting will result in
removal from the league. Anyone involved in an altercation will be given a “NOTICE O
APPEAR,” which will require that person to come into the principal’s office for a sit-down
meeting with the MAPEH and PE coordinator of JILCF before the next scheduled game.
If that person fails to follow through with this obligation, the entire team will be penalized
by not being allowed to play until the persons involved fulfill their obligation. Those
involved in fighting during an Intramural event may also be referred to the ODC for further
disciplinary action.

SPIRIT OF COMPETITION
• Sport activities find their origin in the basic human need for the spirit of play. Winning and
losing are more outcomes of their spirit. What is part of the game is pure satisfaction of
participation (fun, fitness, friendship, stress release, etc.) Without your opponent, you have no
game, no contest and no fun. You are indebted to them as they are to you. The spirit of play, then,
is based on cooperation. Upholding high standards of integrity and fair play acknowledges this
idea of cooperative competition. All players are encouraged to exercise good judgment in caring
for the safety of others as well as themselves. At JILCF, an intentional violation of the rules is
considered cheating and a gross offense against the spirit of competition. Abusive language toward
officials, other participants and manipulation of the rules are not “part of the game.” A lifetime
interest in sports is a goal for all players, which has more meaning than that of a win of loss, the
memory of which often fades quickly. All players are asked to participate within the context of
this spirit of play/competition.

TEAM CAPTAINS or COACH MEETING
• Attendance at the team captains and coaches meeting is MANDATORY. Any team

THE GAME
• A table tennis match begins with the umpire conducting a coin-toss. The winner
has the options to serve the ball first, receive it, or choose the side of the table they’d
like to play from.
• The server must hold the ball with an open palm, toss it up and strike it in a manner
that the ball bounces first on the server’s side of the table before bouncing over the
net to the other side.
• The receiver, however, can return it by hitting it over the net and into the opponent’s
half of the table. If the player attempts to return the ball before it bounces, a foul is
called.
• In singles competition, while the service rule allows the server to serve to any part
of the table on the opposite end, in doubles, the service must travel diagonally
across the table. Here, the serving player plays from the right side of the table.
• Every player gets to serve twice in a row.
• The first to 11 points is declared the winner.
• If the points are tied at 10-10, a player then must strive for a two-point lead to win
the game.
• A match is won by winning games. The number of games per match varies across
competitions and categories.
• If the student is a JILCF athlete, he or she can join the intramural but at other events.

allowed as long as they meet the rules
• Any numbers required to identify a player should be located on the back of their
shirt and take priority over advertisements
• Any markings on the playing garments, accessories or jewelry should not be
conspicuous or reflective, as this would affect the opponent’s sight
• There must be no design or typeface on the sportswear that may disparage the
sport’s reputation
• A team or players in the same association should wear the same clothing color,
except for footwear
• Opposing players should wear sportswear with significantly different colors so that
the audience can easily distinguish them
PROTESTS
• All protests must be settled at the time of the incident, and the game should not
continue until the conflict is resolved. The Chairman may be consulted for
interpretation.

TEAM CAPTAINS or COACH MEETING
• Attendance at the team captains and coaches meeting is MANDATORY. Any team
not represented at this meeting will not be included in the league.
THE GAME
• Chess is a game where two opponents play against each other on an 8×8 checkered board
with a light square in each player’s lower right corner. Each play takes turns making one
move with the player with the White pieces moves first.

• Each game starts in the position shown in the example below. Each player starts with 1
King, 1 Queen, 2 Rooks, 2 Bishops, 2 Knights and 8 pawns. Notice that the Queens are
placed on their own corresponding color next to the Kings on the center files. For more
information, see the guide on how to set up a Chess board.
• Each player must make a move and a move cannot be skipped either.
• The goal in the Chess is to checkmate the opponent’s King or for an opponent to run out
of time. If either happens, you win.
• En Passant Rules
As mentioned above, there is a special rule in Chess called, En Passant. This move enables a pawn
to capture another pawn that moved two squares forward on that pawns first move and landed on
the square directly next to one of your pawns. For more information, see the guide on the En
Passant special move.

• Castling Rules
Castling is a special move in Chess that allows the player to move two pieces in one move, the two
pieces being the King and the Rook. The purpose of this move is to remove the King from the
center of the board and into a more safe position. You cannot castle at any point in time though, a
player can only castle when the following circumstances are met.

i. The King is not currently in check prior to castling, the Rook can be attacked
prior to castling, but not the King
ii. The King is not in check on the square the King would be on after castling
iii. The King is not in check on any of the squares the King passes through
while castling
iv. The King and the Rook involved have not moved yet during the game
v. All of the squares in between the King and the Rook are unoccupied by
another piece

PROTESTS
• All protests must be settled at the time of the incident, and the game should not
continue until the conflict is resolved. The Chairman may be consulted for
interpretation.
