LESSON PLAN IN ARTISTIC AND

CREATIVE LITERACY

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to;
a. discuss the value of arts to education and practical life;
b. identify the Artistic and Creative Literacy Approaches and
Benefits that education can learn from arts
c. apply creativity through drawing

A. ACTIVITY
The teacher will group students into 4, each group will be given
a same picture and they will color it in a creative way. After 3
minutes they will post it on the board.

B. ANALYSIS
1. Why is artistic Literacy is important?
2. How artistic literacy contributes to personal development.

C. ABSTRACTION
Artistic literacy is defined as the knowledge and
understanding required to participate authentically in the arts.
Individuals can learn about media, music, theater, and visual arts
through reading print texts, artistic literacy requires that they
engage in artistic creation processes directly through the use of
materials
The flexibility of the forms comprising the arts positions
students to embody a range of literate practices to:

1. Use their minds in verbal and nonverbal ways:


2. Communicate complex ideas in a variety of forms.
3. Understand words, sounds, or images:
4. Imagine new possibilities: and
5. Persevere to reach goals and make them happen.

Benefits that education can learn from arts:


1. Form and content cannot be separated.
2. Everything interacts
3. Nuance matters.
4. Surprise is not to be seen as an intruder in the process of
inquiry.
5. Slowing down perception is the most promising way to see what
is actually there.
6. The limits of language are not the limits of cognition.
7. Somatic experience.
8. Open-ended tasks permit the exercise of imagination.

Characterizing Artistically Literate Individuals:


1. Use a variety of artistic media.
2. Develop creative personal realization.
3. Cultivate culture, history, and other connections.
4. Find joy, inspiration, peace, intellectual stimulation, and
meaning.
5. Seek artistic experiences and support.

Artistic and Creative Literacy Approaches


1. Imagination and pretense, fantasy and metaphor.
2. Active menu to meaning making.
3. Intentional, holistic teaching.
4. Co-player, co-artist

D. APPLICATION
Group Presentation:
The teacher will divide students into 4 groups. Each group will
draw their dream house in a creative way. They will be given 5
minutes to finish the activity. It will be graded according to criteria;

Criteria:
Creativity and 50%
Design
Uniqueness 30%
Participation 20%
Total 100%
IV. EVALUATION
Multiple choice: Read and analyze each questions carefully and write
the correct answer in 1/4 sheet of paper. Erasures are not allowed
answer only.
