SSC GD 2025 - English Grammar Short Tricks (Cheat Sheet)

1. Subject-Verb Agreement (SVA)

- Words like Each, Every, Either, Neither, Everyone, Someone = always Singular Verb.

Example: Each student is ready.

2. Tenses (Quick Reference)

- Past - Second form (V2)

- Present - First form (V1) or V1+s/es

- Future - Will/Shall + V1

3. Articles (a, an, the)

- 'An' before vowel sounds (a, e, i, o, u).

- 'A' before consonant sounds.

- 'The' for specific/known things.

Example: a cat, an apple, the moon.

4. Prepositions (Smart Usage)

- At - Small place, exact time (at 7 PM, at school)

- On - Days/dates/surfaces (on Monday, on the wall)

- In - Big place, months, years (in India, in June, in 2025)

5. Active to Passive Voice (Formula)

- Identify Object -> Make it Subject -> Use "Be form" + V3.

Example: She writes a letter -> A letter is written by her.

6. Direct to Indirect Speech (Shortcut)


- Reporting verb in past -> Tense backshift.

- Word changes:

Today -> that day

Tomorrow -> the next day

Yesterday -> the previous day

- i before e except after c
