1. Write short note on how data is stored in a computer?
Data is unorganized facts and figures and these data is stored in the computer memory in the
form of bits and is measured in bytes. 8 bits = 1 byte.
2. Differentiate between internal and External Memory.
• Internal Memory : It is the main memory of the computer. the data stored in internal
memory is erased when the computer is turned off.
• External Memory : It is the temporary memory of the computer. Data is not lost in the
external memory even when the computer is turned off.
3. Write down the features of ROM .
ROM: The instructions stored in ROM cannot be changed, but can only be read.
It retains the stored information even when the power is turned off.
4. Why RAM is compared with a blackboard or calculator?
RAM stores the information temporarily, where the information exists till the calculator is on.
The moment we turned off the calculator the data is lost.
5. What is Multimedia Card?
A multimedia card in used in digital camera or mobile phones. They are available in various
storage capacities ranging up to 512 GB.
6. Explain in detail about Any three storage devices with neat diagram.
CD: It is an optical storage device and can store up to 700mb.
It can hold text,sound,images and videos.
Hard Disk : It stores all the siftware and data
It can Store upto 8 TB of data.
Memory Card : it is the storage medium for Mobiles and Digital cameras.
it can hold pictures and music files.
7. Write short note on Flash Drive :
The other name if pen drive is Flash Drive. It is the most popular data backup device. A pen
drive can store up to 2 TB of data.

2. What is a taskbar? What are its various sections?
A: Taskbar is the long horizontal bar located at the bottom of the desktop. It contains three main
sections Start Button : Middle section : Notification Area.
Start button is on the left side of the taskbar and the start menu provides the access to main
programs on the computer.
Middle section shows the programs and files we have opened. The other name is Quick Launch
Bar.
Notification Area: This area contains Clock and notification icons running on the computer.
Eg. Speaker, battery status.
3. What is the use of short cut menu?
When we right click any icon,apop up menu appears,Which is called as Context menu or
shortcut menu . The shortcut menu is used to display a list of commands.
4. Write the steps to set the date and time in windows 10.
Step 1: Click Start -- Control Panel ------Date and time option
Step 2: The date and time dialog box will appear.
Step 3:To change date use forward / backward arrows present on the calendar.
Step 4: To change the time use Spin arrows on the clock.
5. What does an icon mean. Explain any three
The small labeled pictures present on the desktop are called Icons. They are used to open
specific documents.
Document Icon: It displays list of documents or files associated with it. we can restore the
document window by click on the my document Icon.
Recycle Bin: It displays the list of deleted files or folders.
It acts as the dustbin for the computer.
Network Icon : It displays shared files /folders on computers connected to the network.

2. What do you understand by editing?
Making changes in a document is called editing. We must select the text before editing
the text.
3. Write the steps to print a new document.
To open a new document,
Step 1: Click on the File tab--- Choose print option
Step 2:The document is ready to print
4. State the use of Thesaurus feature Word 2016.
Thesaurus helps to improve our vocabulary by providing a list of synonyms and
antonyms for the selected word.
5. Explain the difference between moving and copying the text.
Copying the text means leaves a copy of the selected text in the original location and copies
to a new location.
Moving the text means it removes the selected text from the original place to a new location.
6. Write short note Clipboard.
Clipboard is a temporary storage place in windows that allows you to store cut copy and
paste data between multiple apps. It can store up to 24 multiple text until we exit word
document.

1. What does formatting mean?
Formatting means changing the appearance of the document in order to make it
attractive
2. Define the term font. How will you change the font in your document.
Font is the look and shape of the letters of the text. To change the font of the text
Step 1: Select the text. Click the home tab---
Step 2: Choose Drop down list on the font box.
Step 3: Click the desired font from the list and apply ok.
3. List the different change case option available in Word [Link] any two.
There are five change case options available in word [Link] are
Sentence case
Lowercase - Converts the selected test to lower case type your name
UPPER CASE - converts the selected text to upper case. TYPE YOUR NAME

4. Define the term Alignment. Name the types of alignment available in Word 2016 and
explain them.
The way in which text is placed on a page is called alignment. We can align the text as
Left,Right,Centered and Justified.
Left Align places the text towards the left margin.
Right align places the text towards the right margin.
Center align places the text in the center of the document.
Justify places the text evenly between the left and right margins.
5. What do you understand by line spacing?
Line spacing refers to the amount of vertical space between the lines in a paragraph. We
can increase or decrease the line spacing between a paragraph.

Home Page: The first page of a website is called the home page. It contains the main
information about the website.
Modem: A modem is a device that connects a computer to the internet using telephone or

Search Engine : Search engine is a software that searches various webpages on the world wide

A slide Layout refers to the arrangement of various components on the slide. it provides us
with different ways to arrange the text, images and graphic options.

Slideshow displays all the slides in a presentation one by one on the screen. It is just like

Step 1: Click file tab-- select save option.

Step 3: Type the name as “My presentation: in the file name box -- click save button.

A folder is a place where many files are created.
2. Differentiate between copying and moving a file / folder
Copying a file / folder means to create a duplicate copy of the selected file/folder.
Moving a file / folder means shifting it from its original location to a another location.
3. How can you get rid of unwanted files or folders from your computer system.
We can get rid of unwanted files or folders from our computer system by deleting a file/folder.
4. What are the different ways of restoring a deleted file from the recycle bin?
To restore a file
Method 1: Open Recycle bin -- select the file/folder you want to restore- click restore
option from the toolbar.
Method 2: Right click the file / folder you want to restore --- restore option from the
shortcut menu.
The file/folder will be restored to the original location.
5. What guidelines should you observe while working in a computer lab.
Never open the files created by our classmates.
Avoid copying the work and projecting as our own. It is a criminal Offence.
We should not tamper other files / folders by changing their content.
