Q2:
In Common Base (CB) configuration, the base is the common terminal. Input is applied between emitter and
base, and output is taken across collector and base. Input characteristics show IE vs VEB at constant VCB;
output characteristics show IC vs VCB at constant IE. The output curve has active, cut-off, and saturation
regions.
Q3:
The DC Load Line is a straight line drawn on the output characteristics of a transistor using the equation VCC
= IC*RC + VCE. Plot points: IC = 0 VCE = VCC, and VCE = 0 IC = VCC/RC. The Q-point is the operating
point on this line where the transistor functions linearly.
Q4:
In Common Emitter configuration, the output characteristic graph of IC vs VCE for different IB values shows
three regions: Cut-off (IB=0), Active (IC=×IB), and Saturation (IC max). This setup is widely used for
amplification.
Q6:
Currents in BJT: IE = IB + IC. Voltages: VBE (~0.7V), VCE, VCB. These currents and voltages determine
transistor operation in active, cut-off, or saturation modes.
Q7:
(alpha) = IC/IE in CB mode, typically 0.950.99. (beta) = IC/IB in CE mode, typically 20200. Relation: = / (1 -
) and = / (1 + ).
Q8:
Given = 150, IE = 12 mA: IC = (150/151)×12 11.92 mA, IB = IE - IC = 80 µA.
Q9:
Given = 0.99, ICBO = 100 µA: IC = 0.99×IE + ICBO. Assume IE = 1mA: IC 1.09 mA. = / (1 - ) = 99.
Q12:
Given RC = 12k, RB = 470k, VCC = 20V, VBE = 0.7V. Load line points: IC=0VCE=20V, VCE=0IC=1.67mA.
IB = (20-0.7)/470k 0.041mA, IC = ×IB = 4.1mA. VCE = 20 - (4.1×12) = negative transistor in saturation.
