SIMHAVALOKANA – A SKIT (1.
0)
SCENE 1: THE CAMPAIGN BEGINS
NARRATION:- (Prathi) "In the corridors of power, where promises are
made and broken, a and in the heart of the college, where dreams are
nurtured and futures are shaped, a new story unfolds. It's election season
at 12C, and the students are ready to choose their leader. The air is
electric with anticipation, the corridors buzzing with excitement."
(Narration — calm voice, lights low) > “It’s election season at 12C. Promises
will fly, posters will fall, and somewhere in the noise… a story begins.”
(Elam stands on a bench holding a mic or pretending to have one. His friends
around him are holding “Vote Elam” posters.) (He walks into TVK anthem
which slowly fades out)
Teacher: “Stop it. Not allowed.”
Elam: “Fellow citizens of 12C democracy! Your saviour has arrived!!! —”
Elam (cheering): “FREE Wi-Fi! 24hr A/C!! Canteen samosas and bajji at half
rate!”
Elam: “Dei neengalum solunga daa!!”
Anish (sarcastically): “Don’t forget – every Saturday will be a no book day
guaranteed with a PT period! Sponsored by our future President.”
(Students laugh and cheer. One student rolls eyes.)
Elam (grinning): “You laugh now, but tomorrow you’ll be voting with tears of
joy. Because I am not just a leader… I am a vibe! Thank you!”
Teacher: “Time for the next candidate!! Let’s welcome Sai!”
Sai: “Brothers & sisters… namaste.” “Today, I’m not here to make fake
promises. I am here… to make practical promises.” “Because I… am a man of
the people. By the people. And sometimes, just sometimes… near the
people… in the canteen.” “I know the situation here — small samosas, dry
idlis. I’m here to completely change the system. I will increase the size of
samosa by 40% and make sure veg biryani is served on every Wednesday.”
“Ladies and gentlemen, it is Sai signing off. Peace.”
Teacher: “Next with us, we have ___________ joining us!!”
TEMP: “Hey guys, I’ll get straight to the point.
I don’t have a poster with fireworks. I don’t have a crowd shouting my name.”
(glances at Elam’s gang)
“But I do have something called a brain. And maybe… a timetable.”
TEMP: “I won’t promise you 5-star canteen food or Wi-Fi that reaches Mars.
But I will promise this: no last-minute fest chaos, no function where the mic
doesn’t work.”
TEMP: “No comments please, thats all I have got to say, thank you!”
(Narration – slightly playful tone) > “The votes were cast. The posters faded.
But not everyone was ready to leave the stage quietly…”
NARRATION:- (Prathi) "Elam's promises were music to the students' ears.
He was the popular candidate, the one who knew how to win hearts. His
charisma was undeniable, his words dripping with sincerity. But was it
enough to make him a true leader? Or was it just a cleverly crafted
facade, designed to win votes and nothing more?'
SCENE 2: ELECTION RESULTS (AND THE ‘SUS’ WORK)
NARRATION:- (Sudhi) As the votes were counted, and the results were
announced, the campus erupted in cheers and applause. But behind the
scenes, a different story was unfolding. A story of strategy, of cunning, of
calculated risks. The outcome was all but certain, but the real question
was – would Elam's ambition consume him, or would he rise to the
challenge of leadership?"
(A scene is presented where Elam along with his friends replaces the chits in
the vote booth. And he succeeds in it.) (When the teacher gets distracted
while counting the votes in Ballot box, Elam and his peers sneak in to change
the chits completely, eventually giving him the win he desperately wanted.)
(Results day)
Teacher: “And the president for our college this year is.. ELAM!!!”
(Everyone cheers his name. He celebrates)
(Narration — calm and neutral) > “He won. At least on paper. But inside that
paper… were a few lies waiting to fold back in.”
NARRATION: SUDHI
"Two weeks later, the reality check. The college fest was in chaos, and
Elam's promises seemed hollow. The students were restless, their
expectations unmet. Elam's team was in disarray, their leader lost and
uncertain. Elam was forced to confront the gap between his promises and
his performance."
SCENE 3: THE FALL
NARRATION:- (Sudhi) "The weight of responsibility was crushing him. He
had won the election, but he wasn't prepared to lead. The doubts crept in,
and the fears took hold. Elam was torn between his ambition and his
conscience. Would he find a way to reconcile his ideals with the harsh
realities of leadership, or would he succumb to the pressures of power?"
(Two weeks later — chaos during some college fest) (Students are arguing,
litter everywhere. Loud murmurs, no order)
(There is a massive brawl happening, and no one is listening to Elam’s words)
(Elam sits on steps, slouched. Pulls out his campaign badge, looks at it,
scoffs.) (A teacher walks by — maybe the same one from Scene 2. Notices
him.)
Teacher (gently): “Everything alright, Mr. President?”
Elam (after a beat): “I thought this would be fun.” (pause) “Crowd cheering,
posing, making announcements. Felt like a star.”
Teacher: “And now?”
Elam (quietly): “Now it’s just noise. Expectations. Anger. I walk into a room
and they expect solutions. I don’t have any. I didn’t even plan beyond
winning.”
(Long pause. Elam stares at the floor.)
Elam: “I kept saying I deserved this… But now I’m wondering if I even
understand it.”
(Teacher sits beside him. No lecture. Just a line.)
Teacher: “Leading is never about standing above. It’s about standing with…
even when things get messy.”
(Elam nods slowly. Scene ends quietly with him just sitting there — thinking,
processing. No background music. No speech. Just stillness.)
(Narration — soft, introspective) > “He had won something… but lost his grip
on what it meant. And that silence on the stairs? That was Simhavalokana —
the lion’s glance… inward.”
SCENE 4: THE RESIGNATION
NARRATION:- (Prathi) In a moment of profound introspection, Elam stood
up, his eyes fixed on the badge that had once symbolized his power. Now,
it represented the weight of his own doubts and fears. He looked around
the room, at the faces of his peers, and knew that he had to make a
choice. A choice that would define him, not as a leader, but as a person."
(Scene: Small classroom or student gathering. Elam stands up calmly.)
Elam: “I stood here weeks ago with promises I didn’t understand. I won
something I wasn’t ready for. So today… I’m stepping down — not because I
failed, but because I finally figured out what this post actually deserves.”
(Hands over the badge. Walks out. Crowd silent. Teacher smiles slightly.)
(Final shot: Elam walking down the corridor, looks back once — the lion’s
glance)
(Voiceover — final line) > “Simhavalokana – not a look of regret. A look of
realisation.”
NARRATION:- (Prathi) "A brave decision, a new beginning. The lion's
glance, Simhavalokana, a moment of introspection and self-awareness.
Elam's journey was far from over, but he had taken the first step towards
true leadership. With those words, the weight of his ambition lifted, and
the true measure of his character was revealed. The courage to let go
spoke louder than any promise he had ever made."In that moment, the
silence was deafening. The weight of his words crushed the shadows of
his past, and the light of his newfound wisdom illuminated the path
ahead. With a single sentence, Elam shattered the illusions of power and
redefined the true meaning of self reflection''."Simhavalokana, not a look
of regret, but a look of self-reflection and realization". Thank you!
