A bstract
The system is implemented to reduce the manual work and
enhances the accuracy of work in a restaurant. This system
manages and maintains the record of customers and their order
online. This Android App has been made in a user friendly
interface. So that Customer can add and delete the food items
easily. The menu card of different restaurant consists of various
food varieties available in the restaurant. Through the place
ordering menu, the customer can simply click and order the food.
The messaging module tells the supplier to supply the particular
food. Also tracking module track the order. The billing system
prepares the bill according to the delivered food. This system
entirely reduces the unnecessary time. Every order is associated
with an individual seat at the table, and orders are built one
customer at a time, just like on paper, but with greater accuracy.
Items can also easily be shared by the whole table, moved or
modified, and noted and the cost can be calculated in real time.

L ist of Abbreviation
We propose to build a software project that can efficiently handle
and manage various activities of a restaurant and all these
activities will be happening under the supervision of the
administrator. The businesses in restaurants are now growing
constantly. At the same time, the need for managing its
operations and tasks arises. The best way to optimize these
activities is growing the business online as well. Today’s
generation encourages high-tech services especially over the
Internet. Hence the project is developed proficiently to help
restaurant owners automate their business operations. This
project serves the best way of maintaining customer’s

I ntroduction
1.1 Introduction:
“Online Restaurant Management System” is a web application.
This system is developed to automate day to day activity of
restaurant. This system is developed to provide service facility to
restaurant and also the customers. It will help employees in
restaurant to manage the clients and orders. The services that are
provided is food ordering online. The restaurant menu is
organized by the categories. Each menu item has name, price, and
associated recipe. To resister meal online customer have to be
member first then he can access the later part of the site. After
successful login customer can access the menu page with items
listed. So, this system will develop to help the restaurant
administrator to manage restaurant and customer make their
online ordering.

1.2 Motivation:
The project is developing because many restaurants have the lots
of difficulty to manage the business such as customer ordering and
reserving tables. If the customer book an order and later wants to
cancel the order, he is permitted to do this only within the specific
time period. At management side , initially the staff member has a
login, and according to his designation the privileges are set. The
customer is also given with the facility to view the status of the
order and if the order is ready he can go and get it.

1.3 Problem Statement & Objectives:

Restaurant Management System puts the order in a queue with a
specific priority according to the time and quantity, and then a
cook is assigned for the specific order to complete it. Many people
have experienced going to restaurant where te service is poor and
there is a lack of attention frm the wait staff. The paper menus can
be filimsy, hard to navigate and outdated. This restaurant menu
and system will replace the paper waste, is more maintainable and
allows for greater customer engagement.
The main objective is to determine the nature of online restaurant.

L iterature Survey

2.1 Survey of Existing System:

The current system is paper based. Papers are used in restaurants
for displaying the traditional menu cards, writing down the orders
of customers, storing the records of customers. The disadvantages
of paper based system are that papers can get easily damaged by
stain marks; they can be lost due to fire or accidents or can get lost
in general. Hence, time and money is wasted. This system is time
consuming. One has to call a waiter number of times till he notices
it, and wait for him to arrive at their table to take their order.

2.2 Limitation Existing system or research gap:

For placing any orders customers have to visit hotels or restaurants
to know about food items and then place order and pay. In this
method time and manual work is required. While placing an order
over the phone, customer lacks the physical copy of the menu
item, lack of visual confirmation that the order was placed
correctly. Every restaurant needs certain employees to take the
order over phone or in-person, to offer a rich dining experience
and process the payment. In today’s market, labor rates are
increasing day by day making it difficult to find employees when
needed.

2.3 Mini Project Contribution:

this project successful

P roposed System

3.1 Introduction:
In our restaurant management system our main aim is to make
ordering of food easier as much as we can. It is very easy to access
the menu items and after login/signup as we have separated food
items into categories. (ex: main menu, deserts, drinks, etc)

3.2 Architecture/ Framework:

It is a simple design of the following modules which makes easier
for customer to place order.
L ogin Module:
In login module the customer and restaurants login will be taken
while they already registered on the application. Every
manager/user will have login id and password to login to the
application.
S ignup Module:
In signup module there are three modules (Manager Signup,
Customer Signup and Kitchen Signup)
In Manager Signup, Manager of restaurant have to signup for the
entire access.
In Customer signup, customer have to create a new account to get
access to menu items for placing the order.
In Kitchen module, Admin have rights to insert, update (modify)
and delete the data in database as per his/her necessary
requirements.
M ake Order Module:
The activity is performed by customer itself whose registration is
already done. Once the verification is done by application, the
order gets confirmed and delivery will be given to the dedicated
customers address.
M y Order Module:
In case, the customer come to know that the food or service of
restaurant is not good and estimated delivery time is too much as
expected then he/she can manage his/her orders under order
manage module.
L ogout Module:
The last module describes that after placing order or performing
some actions on the application the customer will click logout
profile.

3.3 Details of Hardware & Software:

Hardware: Intel i5 processor, 2gb ram
Software: Netbeans for Java, wamp server for my sql.

Restaurant Management System is a web application. It is very

easy to use. Customers can order food online, it saves their time
as well as it saves the paper because the billing procedure is also
online. The menu items are organized according to the categories
so it becomes easier while placing the order. The system is
implemented to reduce the manual work and enhances the
accuracy of work in a restaurant.
Hence the project is developed proficiently to help restaurant
owners automate their business operations. This project serves
the best way of maintaining customer’s information and caters
their needs.
Conclusion

This is achieved through an easy to use graphical interface menu

option. The user can add any number of items to the cart from
any of the available food categories by simply clicking the Add
to cart button for each item. Once item is added to the cart, user is
presented with detailed order to review or continue shopping.
