PROBLEM STATEMENT
A study to assess the effectiveness of structure teaching program on knowledge regarding polycystic ovarian
syndrome among adolescence girl in a selected college Surajpur (c.g.)
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
1. To assess the level of knowledge regarding Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome among adolescent girls
before and after structure teaching program.
2. To assess the effectiveness of structure teaching program on knowledge regarding polycystic
ovarian syndrome among adolescent girls before and after structure teaching program.
3. To find out association between pretest level of knowledge regarding Polycystic Ovarian
Syndrome among adolescent girls and their selected demographic variables.
OPERATIONAL DEFINITION :-
Assess
Evaluate the level of knowledge among adolescents girls of selected college, regarding PCOS before and
after Information Education and Communication using structured knowledge questionnaire.
Effectiveness
Effectiveness refers to the knowledge scores after administration of Information Education Communication
regarding Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome among adolescent girls.
Information Education Communication
Information Education Communication refers to administration of the planned instructional module to the
adolescent girls regarding Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
Knowledge
It refers to the response of adolescent girls regarding Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome by structured multiple
choice questionnaire in terms of knowledge scores.
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
It refers to the hormonal imbalance which causes irregular menstrual periods, obesity, unwanted or excess
hair growth and acne.
Adolescent Girls
Girls with age group of 18 to 20 years and studying in Govt. Naveen Girls college Surajpur (C.g)
HYPOTHESIS :-
H1 :There is a significant difference in the level of knowledge regarding polycystic ovarian
syndrome between pre-test and post-test scores.
H2:There is a significant association between post-test level of knowledge regarding polycystic
ovarian syndrome among adolescent girls and their selected demographic variables.
ASSUMPTIONS
Adolescent girls possess some knowledge regarding Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
Proper knowledge regarding polycystic ovarian reduces the risk of getting Polycystic
Ovarian Syndrome among adolescent girls.
Information Education and Communication will helps to improve the level of
knowledge regarding Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
LIMITATION :
The study was limited to only adolescence girl
Sample size was restricted to 60
DELIMITATION
The study is delimited to a selected college at Surajpur
The data collection period was delimited to period of 6 weeks.
The age group is limited to 18 -20 years of girls.
METHEDOLOGY :
The purpose of this study to assess knowledge regarding polycystic ovarian syndrome among adolescence
girl in a selected college Surajpur (c.g.)
Approach :- The research approach used in this study will be quantitative experimental research.
Design :- the research design will be Pre-experimental one group pre-test-post-test design
Variable :- Independent :- Structured teaching program
Dependent :- knowledge of the students
Setting :- The study will be conducted in Govt. Naveen girls college Surajpur
Population :- target :- adolescent girls aged between the age group of 18-20 years
:- assessable :- adolescent girls Govt. Naveen girls college Surajpur
Sample :- adolescent girls aged between the age group of 18-20 years
sample size :- sample size for this study will be 60 students
Pilot study :- pilot study will be conducted on 6 subject to test the feasibility, reliability, and validity of
the Study.
METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION :
INCLUSIVE CRITERIA
Adolescent girls who are aged between 18-20 years.
Adolescent girls who are willing to participate in the study.
Adolescent girls who are present during the data collection period.
Adolescent girls who can able to read and write English.
EXCLUSIVE CRITERIA
The study is delimited to selected college in Surajpur.
The study is delimited to the adolescent girls.
SAMPLING TECHNIQUE - Non- probability convenient sampling technique
INSTRUMENT TO BE USED :
Self structured knowledge questionnaire.
DATA COLLECTION METHOD :
Permission will be obtained from concerned higher authority of the institute
Purpose of the study will be explained to the subjects.
Informed consent will be obtained from subject.
Data will be collected by questionnaire interview method.
CRITARIA FOR SCORING ITEMS
In interview schedule, each question has one best answer with other 3 response. For correct answer a score
of 1 will give and wrong answer 0 will give. The maximum score of structured interview schedule will be 30
the percentage will be calculate by using the formula of follow :
Score interpretation = obtain score x 100
Total score
100 - 7o% - good knowledge
51- 69% average knowledge
>50% - poor knowledge
