INTEGRITY
Bible Text:Proverbs 19:1

Prayer
Heavenly Father rock of ages we come before your throne this
evening, we thank you for the gifs of life and the opportunity
you have given to us today, Father we invite your Holy Spirit to

🙏🏼
open our heart as we about to receive the bread of life in Jesus
Mighy Name Amen

Introduction
Our topic today is a topic needed for this season due to what
Christians are passing through these times. So, kindly ensure you
follow through very well. May the Lord grant us understanding in
Jesus Christ's Name, Amen.

Bible Text:Proverbs 19:1

KJV Version"Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than
he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool."

Study
The word Integrity can be defined as firm adherence to a code of
especially moral or artistic values. It is also the faithfulness to
high moral standards. Integrity in regards to spirituality refers to
moral soundness, honesty, and an undivided commitment to
God. It involves living in alignment with godly principles, even
when no one is watching. A person of integrity is consistent,
truthful, faithful, and upright in all their ways. It is expedient
that this teaching goes out this period because we are now in an
age where Christians are losing their integrities. We are now
carried away by different things and are losing our integrity.

5
Integrity - RBSM

And, one thing the devil does when we lose our integrity as
children of God is to mock us and the God we serve. I know you
wouldn't want to be the reason an already eternally damned
creature would mock God. Truthfulness, faithfulness,
uprightness, honesty now lack in the body of Christ. In those
days, when bank managers wanted to hire staff, they looked for
churches to hire Christians because they knew Christians to be
very faithful, honest, trustworthy, and diligent. But, the question
is: can that happen in this our generation? This generation where
so-called Christians even steal church's money. Even those who
are strongly trusted are now dabbling into different shady things
which makes them no different from a fraudster. Hmmm,
integrity!

Proverbs 19:1: KJV Version

"Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is
perverse in his lips, and is a fool."One of the greatest men that
ever lived wrote a lot of wise words for us to lay hands on, and
one of the things he wrote about was the fact that better are you
even when you are poor, yet you walk in integrity, than someone
who is perverse in his lips and is a fool. So, it literally means that
a poor man who upholds integrity is better than a rich man who
lacks it. Even though the poor man does not have financial
abundance, but because he has integrity "in abundance," he is
better than the rich man who has financial abundance but is
deficient in "integrity."

This shows that the word integrity needs to be critically studied

well, and this is what we need to walk in regardless of whether
we are rich or poor. I have come to discover that people who lack
financial abundance may find it hard to keep their integrity. This
is why I am bringing this verse out—to show us that lack of
financial abundance is not a solid reason to lack integrity at all.

6
Integrity - RBSM

I want us to quickly look at biblical examples of those who

walked in integrity.

Biblical examples of those who walked in integrity

1. Job
Job walked in integrity to the extent that God was proud of him
and even showed him off to the devil. Job 2:3: KJV"And the
LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that
there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man,
one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth
fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to
destroy him without cause."

Despite the fact that God allowed the devil to lay hold on the
house of Job, yet Job never lost his integrity! He didn't allow his
situation to make him do what was against God. He remained
faithful, committed, and dedicated to God. As a Christian,
haven't you lost your integrity just because of the little
tribulations you encountered? Have you not lost your integrity
just because you were being tested? Think about it! What was
that little thing that made you compromise your standard and
integrity? Do you wish to continue in that state?

2. Joseph
Joseph kept his integrity even when he had the offer of free sex
poised towards him. But he decided to keep his integrity as
someone who feared God. Genesis 39:9: KJV"There is none
greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing
from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do
this great wickedness, and sin against God?"In walking in
integrity, we must understand that the goal is not to prove we are
faithful, but that we reverence God enough not to sin against
Him or bring shame to His name.

7
Integrity - RBSM

3. Cornelius
Cornelius was a man of integrity. He feared God and was a
devout man. Despite how influential he was, he never used his
position to oppress others. He was honest and faithful to God,
and because of this reason, God sent an angel to him. Acts 10:2:
KJV"A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house,
which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always."

4. Paul
Apostle Paul is someone we are aware of in the scriptures—how
he walked faithfully with God. Acts 24:16: KJV"And herein do I
exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offense
toward God, and toward men."He stood upright in God and
maintained a conscience void of offense towards God and
towards men. He didn't engage or dabble into things that would
have caused him to be unfaithful and dishonest towards God. I
will do well to show us how many have started walking another
path different from that of integrity. But I have been able to show
us a few of those who walked in integrity in the scriptures.

Let's proceed.

What Christians are not supposed to involve in to avoid them

losing their integrity
1. Engage in examination malpractices as students:
As a student, you must maintain your integrity when it comes to
your exams and tests in school. The funny thing is that people
watch you once you call yourself a Christian. So, know that they
are watching what you would do in the exam hall. When I newly
gained admission into the university, I vowed not to commit
examination malpractices either by asking anyone for answers or
telling anyone the answer. As I proceeded and moved to the next
levels, my coursemates rose against me because I never told them
answers in the exam hall.

8
Integrity - RBSM

They knew I was a Christian, but they expected me to "help"

them inside the exam hall, as they fondly referred to examination
malpractices as (help). But I maintained my integrity and made
sure I never bent on any of my decisions to stand upright. And
because of this, I motivated other Christians who were formerly
involved in examination malpractices too, and they stopped and
also began sitting at the front whenever we had exams, just to
avoid speaking to other people.

I maintained this integrity as a student to the extent that one of

my lecturers said it in the exam hall on a particular day that "If
all of you are like Moses, I wouldn't bother to supervise, I will just
sit down in a place and not stress myself because there won't be
examination malpractices."If I didn't maintain my integrity, I
wouldn't be used as an example to my fellow coursemates. That
is who we should be: a shining light and a good example to
others.

I believe you are following?

2. Join others to change figures or embezzle funds at work:

At your workplace, you must maintain integrity to the core!
There are a lot of temptations at different places of work, and
you must not fall for these. You must be honest, plain, and
faithful to your work. Never join others to change figures,
embezzle money, or speak ill of colleagues at work. People will
come to you with different stories of gossip, but if you don't
maintain your integrity as a Christian, you will end up gossiping
and backbiting. And, funnily enough, the unbelievers will see you
as same with them because you are acting outside integrity. That
is just it.

9
Integrity - RBSM

3. Receiving money from a source you know is bad, polluted,

and wrong: As Christians, we need to be very careful and
sensitive. You know that someone just received a huge sum of
money from the client he defrauded, and you are telling the
person to send you out of the money. Where is your integrity??!!
Someone that you are supposed to preach to so that he can stop
the act of fraud, yet because of money, you are keeping quiet and
sealing the truth from such person. Or, you are a parent, and you
know that your daughter is going out at night to work as
prostitutes, yet instead of correcting her, when she comes back,
you ask for your own share, yet you say since you are not the one
doing it, God won't be angry with you—you joke and lie!

Someone you are supposed to correct and rebuke, you are asking
your share from something you know the source is bad and
wrong. If you want to preach Jesus to such a person, how will
you do it? Because she will see you both as same kind of being,
and of course, there is no difference. The only difference is that
she sells her body while you collect the money. Remember that
it's better for a poor person who has integrity than someone who
has wealth but lack integrity!

Is somebody listening?

4. Engage in fight or abuse others because they did same to

you: We are in a world where there are a lot of provokers. People
will provoke you, especially when they know you are a Christian,
and they will expect you not to react. And, of course, you are not
meant to fight or abuse back so as to keep your integrity! No
matter how tempted you are to react negatively, always
remember that your integrity as a child of God matters so much,
and you are to preserve it with all your might and strength. This
is why it's good to always engage in evangelism because you can't
fight or abuse in that place where you once did evangelism. This

10
Integrity - RBSM

will keep you conscious of who you are. It may sound funny, but
it's true. It is a shame on you as a Christian when people vet your
character and behavior and show you scriptures that negate the
way you are acting. It shouldn't be so at all.

5. Being loose with the opposite sex as a minister: As long as

you are a Christian, and especially if you are a minister, you
should not be loosed with the opposite sex. You shouldn't be the
one playing rough play with the opposite sex and touching them
anyhow when they are not your wives or husbands. I see many
young ministers loose with the opposite sex, and I shake my
head! Many lost their integrity to the point that they ended up
having intercourse with such opposite sex just because they
were never wise enough to protect their integrity by setting
boundaries. When you are married, you are not expected to have
an opposite sex as your best friend because your spouse is meant
to be the best friend.

Also, protect your integrity by not receiving gifts from opposite

sex anyhow for no reason. It has a way of affecting your integrity
if you can't control yourself. It's not all gift you receive, know
that! One thing I have discovered is that as a male or female
minister, you are prone to being sought after by the opposite sex.
You will see females chasing after male ministers all in the name
of trying to tap grace or offer helping hands, while you will see
brothers falling in what they call "love" when they see a graced
and Spirit-filled female minister. This is why you, as a minister,
need to be very careful and watchful and keep on maintaining
your integrity before they make you lose it.

Are you with me?

Integrity - RBSM

6. Fighting for positions in church: Fighting for positions in

church should be the last thing Christians would even dare to do.
When we fight for positions in church, we are losing our
integrity. So, fighting for positions shouldn't be heard of in our
midst in any way. You can serve God in different ways; it's not a
must you mount the pulpit before you can work for God. If you
want a position, there is a position that is open to every child of
God, and that is the evangelistic and intercessory position.

If you want position, pick your Bible and go for evangelism. You
are working in the evangelistic position. Intercede for people in
your secret place! That's also a position you have occupied, and
stop fighting to mount the pulpit to minister. Now, having looked
at those things we shouldn't engage in to maintain our integrity,
let's look at the advantages of maintaining our integrity.

Advantages of maintaining your integrity:

1. You have peace of mind.
2. You become a genuine and good representative of God on
Earth.
3. People will imitate you, and as such are imitating the lifestyle
of Christ.
4. People will want to serve your God.
5. It will save you from unnecessary problems, stress, and
regrets.
6. It creates a clean track record for you.
7. You will not be found guilty of atrocities.
8. God will be able to vouch for you as He did concerning Job.
9. Blessings will locate you.
10. It helps and preserves your marriage and ministry.
11. You become a good example to people around you.
12. You will lay a good legacy and a good name on Earth.

12

We have come to the end of the teaching. If you have any

question, do ask. But, if none, have a great day.

Invitation

If you know that you are still living in sin and you are ready to
repent and begin to live your life in strict obedience to God so
that you can overcome every sin in your life to make heaven,
please place your right hand on your chest and say this prayer
with your mouth.

Say,

"Lord Jesus, I accept You as my personal Lord and Savior. I

believe that You died for me and took away my sins so that I will
not face the penalty of them. I surrender my life to You today,
and I make a decision to obey and follow You. Come into my life
now and accept me as Your child. Thank You for saving me, in
Jesus Christ's name I pray, Amen."

Congratulations, now you are saved. If you prayed this short

prayer, please WhatsApp +2347067511039 and let me know that
you have just been saved. I want to have a word with you. God
bless you!
