Installing a printer using controlpanel
To install a printer in computer follow these steps
Step1:Connect your printer to the system via USB,network connection,or
Bluetooth,depending on the type of printer you have and ensure the printer is ready to use.
Step2:Open control panel . Startmenusearch control panel
Step3:In the Control Panel, select Hardware and Sound.
Step4:In Hardware and Sound, select Devices and Printers.
Step5:In Devices and Printers, select Add Printer.
Step6:In the Add a device window, select The printer that I want isn't listed.
Step7: In the Add Printer dialogue box, select the button for Select a shared printer by
name. Type the server and printer name in the box. The name of the printer should be on a
white sticker on the printer. The server and printer name will look similar to \\print\
printername. Once printer is located in the list, select Next.
If there are no issues, the computer will connect to the printer.
Once the computer connects with the printer, the following will display.
The newly added printer can then be set as the default printer if needed.
Step8: Test your printer by clicking on print a test page and click on finish.
PROCEDURE TO CHANGING THE RESOLUTION, COLOUR
APPEARANCE AND SCREEN SAVER OPTIONS OF THE DISPLAY
Changing resolution
Computer screen resolution refers to the number of pixels displayed on the screen. It’s
generally represented as width x height (for example, 1920×1080).
Changing screen resolution is essential for adjusting the clarity and size of content
displayed on your monitor. Higher resolution offers sharper images and more screen space.
Steps to change the resolution:
Step 1: Go to Start.
Step 2: Navigate to Windows 10 settings by clicking on the Settings icon.
Step 3: Click on System.
Step 4: The Display tab will automatically pop up on your screen.
Step 5: On that page, you will see a Display resolution option under the Scale and Layout
Configure section. Click on the dropdown button underneath the option to see several
different resolutions.
Step 6: Pick a resolution and click on it to set it as default. In our case, we will go for
the recommended resolution.
Changing Color, Appearance and Screen saver Options of the
Display:
Appearance settings of the display includes color, background, themes, screen
saver options.
All these settings follows same steps from step1 to step2.
Steps to Change Screen Color:
1. Open Settings: Click on the Start button, then select Settings.
2. Go to Personalization: In the Settings window, click on Personalization.
3. Choose Colors: Click on Colors. Here, you can choose between Light, Dark, or
Custom mode1.
4. Select Accent Color: Expand the Accent color section to choose an accent color.
You can either let Windows pick an accent color automatically or select one
manually1.
5. Apply Changes: Scroll down and toggle the options to show the accent color on
the Start menu, taskbar, and window borders.
To Change Background
o Click on Background. Here, you can choose a picture, solid color, or
slideshow for your desktop background.
o To select an image, click Browse and choose your favorite picture.
To Change Lock Screen, Screen saver:
o Click on Lock Screen to change the background image for your lock
screen.
o Select Picture or Slideshow, and choose your preferred image.
To change Themes:
o Under Themes, you can select from predefined themes or create your own
by clicking on Get more themes in Microsoft Store.
CHANGING DATE AND TIME SETTINGS IN WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM
We can change the date and time settings in 2 ways

1. Open Settings: Click on the Start button, then select Settings (the gear icon).
2. Go to Time & Language: In the Settings window, click on Time & Language
leftside, Click on Date&Time on the right side
3. Turn Off Set Time Automatically: Toggle off the Set time automatically option.
4. Change Date and Time: Click on Change under Set the date and time manually.
5. Enter Date and Time: In the new window, select the correct date, time, and time
zone.
6. Apply Changes: Click Change to save your settings.
2. Steps to Change Date and Time Settings Using Taskbar
Step1: Right-click date/time on the right side of the taskbar, then select “Adjust date and
time“.
Step2:Turn Off Set Time Automatically: Toggle off the Set time automatically option.
Step3:Change Date and Time: Click on Change under Set the date and time manually.
Step4:Enter Date and Time: In the new window, select the correct date, time, and time
zone.
Step5: Apply Changes: Click Change to save your settings.
DISK DEFRAGMENTATION
Disk defragmentation :
Disk defragmentation is the process of reorganizing the data on a hard drive so that files are
stored in contiguous blocks. This reduces the amount of time it takes to read and write files,
as the drive's read/write head doesn't have to move as much.
Steps to follow to do disk defragmentation:
Step 1: Open the start menu by pressing the [Win] key or clicking the bottom left section of
the desktop
Step 2: Open Defragment and Optimize Drives: type Defragment and Optimize
Drives, and select the tool from the search results.
Step 3: Select the Defragment and Optimize Drive app
Step 4: A new window called Optimize Drives would have appeared looking similar to this:
Step 5: Now select the drive you are willing to defragment. Based on the demonstration, we
will be defragmenting the D Drive. Select the drive and click the Optimize button.
Step 6: The program will start analyzing the drive for possible fragmentation.
Step 7: Wait for Completion: After which the process of defragmentation will begin.
The process will take some time, depending on the size of the drive. You can monitor the
progress in the Current Status column
Step 8: In the end, you will be acknowledged for the completion of the process by the
Optimize Drive Program. Now your drive/disk has been successfully defragmented.
FINDING A FILE USING SEARCH OPTION IN WINDOWS
Steps to Find a File:
1. Click on start menu and open search option
2. Type the File Name:
o In the search bar, start typing the name of the file you’re looking for.
3. Review Search Results:
o As you type, Windows will display a list of results. Look through the list to
find your file.
4. Open the File:
o Click on the file you want to open. If it’s not immediately visible, you can
filter the results by selecting Documents, Pictures, Music, etc.
