Fibonacci Sequence

The Fibonacci Sequence is a series of numbers where each number is the sum of the two preceding ones, exemplified by the sequence 0, 3, 3, 6, 9, 15, 24, 39. The nth term can be calculated using the formula Fn = Fn-1 + Fn-2, with practical applications seen in nature, finance, and technology. Graphically, the sequence can be represented as spirals found in natural formations like sunflower petals and seashells.

What is it?

The Fibonacci Sequence is a series of numbers where

each number is a sum of two preceding numbers.
Example - 0,3,3,6,9,15,24,39...........
Fibonacci
Formula
Nth Term
Formula
The formula for the nth term of the Fibonacci
sequence is Fn = Fn-1 + Fn-2, where n>1. In this
formula, Fn represents the nth term in the sequence,
and Fn-1 and Fn-2 represent the two previous terms.
General
Formula
If you want to find F4 (the 4th number in the
sequence), you would use the formula:
F4 = F3 + F2
Since F3 = 2 and F2 = 1, then:
F4 = 2 + 1 = 3
Graphical Explanation
The Fibonacci Series can be
expressed graphically as
shown-
It can be visualised as a series of
squares arranged to form a
spiral, where each side of a
square indicates a number in the
Fibonacci Sequence.These kind
of spirals are often found in
nature- Flower Petals and
Seashells etc.
Real Life
Examples
Fibonacci Sequence are also found in nature, finance and
technology. Here are some real life examples of the graphical
spirals of Fibonacci.
