SAP Configurable
Task List
Understanding the Concept and Its Importance
Introduction
Here we will cover the concept of SAP configurable task list.
Often there are equirements like having a common large task list for a category of equipment’s/assets and choosing
the tasks/operations selectively into maintenance work order depending upon the equipment specifications based
on which work order is being created.
What is Configurable Task List
Let’s say we have 2 generators of different capacity.
Now the operations to carry out the work on these
generators vary with different ratings (capacity).
No Generators Capacity
1 Diesel Generator 100KVA
2 Diesel Generator 50KVA
We can have all the operations that belong to both the
categories of generators in a single task list, to use in work
orders which are created based on these
generators/equipment’s.
➢ Which means the system would choose only those operations from
the task list which are relevant to specific equipment on which the
order is created.
Such type of task list is called configurable task list
Configurable Task Lists (General Task List)
Let us assume that we have a common large task list (general task list) which is created for
equipment’s (generaters of different capacity), which is to be configured now.
Operations 0010, 0040, 0050 belongs to generator
100KVA
Operations 0020, 0030 belongs to generator 50KVA
Steps to Configure Task List (General Task List)
❑ Create Characteristics → CT04
Create capacity characteristics for generators
Steps to Configure Task List (General Task List)
❑ Create Class → CL01 with type ‘300’
Create class for generators & assign characteristic to class
Steps to Configure Task List (General Task List)
❑ Create Object Dependencies → CU01
Create object dependency as below for generator capacity, maintain dependency editor & release.
Steps to Configure Task List (General Task List)
❑ Similar dependency to be made for all combination of generator capacities
Steps to Configure Task List (General Task List)
❑ Create Task List Configuration Profile → CU41
Create configuration profile for general maintenance task list
Maintain task list
group & counter
Steps to Configure Task List (General Task List)
Maintain profile name, class type
Goto ‘class assignments’ to assign the class
Steps to Configure Task List (General Task List)
❑ Assign the Class to Equipment’s → IE01/IE02 (100 KVA Gen)
Assign the created class to all relevant equipment’s with respective characteristics values
Steps to Configure Task List (General Task List)
❑ Assign the Class to Equipment’s → IE01/IE02 (50 KVA Gen)
Assign the created class to all relevant equipment’s with respective characteristics values
Steps to Configure Task List (General Task List)
❑ Assign Dependencies to Task List Operations → IA06
Assign above created dependencies to relevant operations in the task list
➢ Assign remaining operations with relevant
dependencies in a similar way.
➢ Leave common operation ‘0060’ untouched.
Now the
configuration is
complete
Configurable Task Lists Effect in the Work Order
Let us check out the actual effect in the work order when configurable task list is assigned to
work order.
Now WO is created for 100KVA generator & assigning
a TL which is commonly create above for diesel
generators
Assign TL group & group counter
Maintain the characteristic value
Maintain characteristic value for 100KVA generator, so
that system will pick only those operations which are
assigned with 100KVA generator dependency &
common operations if any (to which no dependencies
are assigned) in our example operation 0060 is a
common operation & operations 0010, 0040 & 0050
are assigned with 100KVA generator dependency.
Now click back & check out the operations tab to see
relevant operations being picked.
Similarly the exact result can be seen for 50KVA
generator where it’s specific operations are picked
along with common operation/s when work order is
created for 50KVA generator.
Thank you!
