Chapter 7 – Morals and Monsters

(Recap of Chapter 6)

> Aries and Syrus fought with everything they had, but it wasn't enough. They lay bleeding,
barely conscious, while Ivar and Lee Harvey walked away. Ivar, surprisingly, spared them. But
mercy from devils comes at a price… and now, something darker brews behind their supposed
survival.

---

Scene: Evening, outside the battlefield, Ivar and Lee Harvey walk down the street.

Lee Harvey:
You really gonna let those kids go just like that?
They're barely breathing, yeah… but what if they survive?
They could be a real threat to us later.

Ivar:
chuckles dryly
You? Worried about those brats?
Never thought I'd see the day Lee Harvey gets spooked by two half-dead rookies.

Lee Harvey:
I'm not scared, Ivar. I'm cautious.
They saw too much. They fought like hell. That kind of spirit doesn't just die with wounds.

Ivar:
sighs, lights a cigarette
Let me ask you something, Lee…
Ever heard of "restraint"? Or is that a foreign word to you?

Lee Harvey:
Don't play wise with me.
You said it yourself back then—we don't leave loose ends.

Ivar:
True.
But even monsters like us should have some morals… right?

Lee Harvey:
...Morals?

Ivar:
Yeah. It ain't about being soft.
It's about drawing the damn line somewhere.
And anyway, I’m not being careless.

Lee Harvey:
Then what are you doing?

Ivar:
Delegating.
The police will handle them from here.
Idiots they may be… but even they can take care of two dying kids.

(Ivar turns around and walks toward the group of police nearby. The Police Leader stands
ahead.)

Ivar:
Take care of the brats lying outside the compound.
Keep them alive. That’s an order.

Police Leader:
Yes… y-yes sir.

---

(Scene switches: Aries and Syrus lie bleeding on the ground, watching Ivar and Lee walk away.)

Aries:
Syrus… they’re leaving…

Syrus:
I see them too…
My eyes… they’re… fading…

Aries:
Why didn’t we stop them…

Syrus:
We did our best… I think…
(Their vision blurs. The last thing they see is Ivar and Lee disappearing into the distance. They
fall unconscious.)

---

Scene: Police Squad Leader walks up to their bodies.

Police Leader:
Now that they’re gone…
Time to clean up this mess.

(He draws his pistol and aims it at the boys.)

Policeman:
Sir, what are you doing?!
Ivar promised Howard he’d let them live!

Police Leader:
grits teeth That promise was Ivar’s.
Not mine.

Policeman:
But sir—

Police Leader:
He told me to take care of them.
And if you ask me, killing them is the best care we can give.
They know too much.
They’re the only living proof of what really happened here.
If they talk—we burn.

(He cocks the gun and aims again.)

---

(Suddenly, the scene flashes—Aries is standing frozen in a fire-lit street. His parents scream in
front of him.)

Mother:
Aries… help us…!

Father:
Son… run! Or do something!

Aries:
I—I can’t… I can’t move…!
I’m sorry… I’m sorry…!

(He watches helplessly as they fall. Blood. Flames. Silence.)

(Suddenly Aries gasps and wakes up in a hospital bed, trembling and drenched in sweat.)

Aries:
H-Haah…! Wh-Where—!?

Syrus (from nearby bed):

Whoa—easy, easy.
You're awake… finally.

Aries:
Syrus? What… what happened?
Where are we?

Syrus:
We’re in a hospital.
I woke up a few minutes before you.
Looks like we’re… still alive.

Aries:
But how…? I saw the gun—he was going to kill us…

(A nurse walks in briskly, surprised and relieved.)

Nurse:
Oh thank God…
You’re both awake.
You’ve been unconscious for three straight days.
And yeah… you two have a visitor.
