S U B J E C T : GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
GENERAL
All materials to be used in the construction shall be of good quality suited for the purpose for which they are
intended and shall conform to trade and manufacturer’s standard.
EXCAVATION AND BACKFIL ING
Excavation shall reach the hard and stable foundation bed to obtain the required soil bearing pressure.
Shoring and sheet piling , as may be required during the excavation to protect adjacent structures, paving,
banks, and utilities and as may be required by laws shall be installed.
Filling materials shall be placed in layers not exceeding 0.15m , each layer being thoroughly wet and
compacted by tampering.
CON CRETE AND REINFORCED CONCRETE MATERIALS
CEMENT- Cement shall conform to the standard specifications for Portland cement
(ASTM-150)
CONCRETE AGGREGATES-Fine and course aggregates shall consist of sand,
Stone screenings, crushed rocks, gravel or other inert materials, and shall be clean
Hard, durable and properly graded.
WATER- shall be free from injurious amount of oil, acids, alkali, organic matter
And other deleterious substances and shall be reasonably clear and clean.
REIFORCING BARS-steel reinforcement bars shall conform to the ASTM
Standards specifications for billet-steel bars for concrete reinforcement and shall be
free from rust, dirt, or other coating that will reduce their bond.
CONCRETE, 211 kg./cm2 strength in 28 days, shall be used for reinforced con- Crete footings, slabs, beams
and columns.
CONCRETE, 140 kgs/cm2 strength in 28 days shall be used for all concrete slab on fill.
STEEL REINFORCEMENT BARS, deformed structural grade (GRADE 40,
Fy=2812 kg/cm2) shall be used for all main reinforcement.
STEEL REINFORCEMENT BARS, deformed structural grade shall be used for colum
ties, beams stirrup and stiffeners.
STUCTURAL STEEL ,shall conform to ASTM A- 36.
CURING, curing begin when concrete has attained its initial sets, concrete surfaces.
shall be protected from the loss of surface moisture for a period of not less than 7 days by covering with kraft
paper or of other materials which will keep the concrete suffi-cietly wetted during the curing period.
STRUCTURAL WOODWORK, Lumbers like Apitong,Gmelina treated with solignum
shall be used for all structural woodwork. They shall be well seasoned thoroughly dry
and freed from large, loose or unsound knots, sap, shakes or other imperfections redu-
cing its strength , durability or appearance.
FRAMING shall be closely fitted accurately set to required planes, lines, and eleva-tions, and rigidly secured in
place. Nailings shall be done in thorough manner with
nails of ample size. Flexural members shall be set with crown edges up.
ROOFING AND ROOF FRAMING
ROOFING shall be long span galvanized iron sheet Gauge # 26
GUTTER shall be plain galvanized iron sheet Gauge # 26
FLASHING shall be plain galvanized iron sheet
DOWNSPOUTS shall be 3 inches dia. Pvc pipe
PLUMBING WORKS
PLUMBING works shall be done by a competent men directly supervised by a licensed
Master Plumber, Materials to be used shall be brand new and of approved type for both
location and purpose.
ELECTRICAL WORKS
ELECTRICAL installations shall be done in a good workmanship manner directly
supervised by a licensed electrical engineer , Materials to be used shall be brand new
and of approved type in accordance with the material specifications.
PAINTING
PAINTING shall be done in good workmanship manner. All surfaces to be painted
shall be applied with two coats of paints in addition to the necessary primer coat for
such surfaces.
SITE CLEANING
UPON completion of the work, the premises shall be left clean and free from debris
and waste . Surplus materials shall be stored in proper place.
