Persuasive Essay On Winning Games
The thrill of winning a trophy for the first time is always memorable, however, it brings up the
question: Is receiving an award for participating just as exciting? Participation awards are a topic
highly debated among those of all ages, with none agreeing on a single answer. Individuals who are
under the impression that they are essential believe they boost a childs confidence and self esteem.
This may be true in some cases, but these trophies could be doing more harm than good. Although in
the moment they may appear to be wholesome, they have a lasting effect on children as they grow
older. Many children put loads of effort into winning awards, which is belittled by participation
trophies that are not only unhelpful and unrewarding, but don t teach them the important values
learned by losing.
Of course, participation trophies take away from the true meaning of receiving an award and
enjoying the sport. Her daughter rarely showed up for her soccer team. She had a terrible
attitude, Dweck says. In spite of that, at the end she got a giant trophy and would have been
devastated had she not (Turner). Children who put no effort into the sport or activity they have
joined still receive an award for being a part of it. This is extremely unfair to those who actually
worked hard to make their team successful because it rewards the kids who were barely even
engaged in the sport. We need look no further than the 2011 World Series for the value of earning
trophies
The Elephant Man By David Lynch
Movies and novels deal with many serious real life issues these days, people with disabilities are
no exception, and this is all fine but it all matters if the issue is accurate and non offensive. Well
despite what many people think, most media representations of disabled people these days are
accurate. There are numerous amount of films and novels that feature disabled people and here are
some reasons why they are accurate.
First and foremost, media representations don t just go from film to novels, they can also be
depicted in forms such as radio dramas and videogames, it can also not just a mental disability, but
also [Link] disabilities are shown in such films as The Elephant man and even video
games such as Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain The Elephant Man is a 1980 film directed
by David Lynch that depicts the story of Joseph Merrick (It was based on a true story,) a man who
was born with an extremely rare physical disability that completely deformed his face, making him
look almost like an elephant, one of the quotes in the film is I am not an elephant! I am not an
animal! I am a human being! I am a man! This shows that not matter how different you look or
what society thinks of you, at the end of the day, you are just the same as every other human, doesn
t matter how different you look, so the Elephant Man is an extremely accurate film depiction of the
life and death of Joseph Merrick. But that s not saying that there are just physical

Report on Business Culture in Saudi Arabia
Executive summary: With the globalization of world business, Saudi Arabia has become an
appealing market for foreign investors. But there has long been belief that the market of Saudi
Arabia is difficult to develop and the culture there is inconsistent with the world. The problem of
cross cultural management arises as the cooperation between Saudi Arabia and its world partners
continue to increase at an unprecedented rate. This paper analyses commercial and cultural feature
of Saudi Arabia, presenting an understanding on the general cultural differences between Saudi
Arabia and Singapore by applying different cultural dimensions. And it explains the influence of

Culture is the collective programming of the mind which distinguishes the members of one category
of people from another. (Hofstede, 1991) There are four cultural dimensions that were defined in
Hofstede s research: Power distance, Uncertainty avoidance, Individualism, Masculinity, and recently
Hofstede add one more: long term short term orientation. In this part of paper, comparison between
Singapore and Saudi Arabia will be discussed, by focusing Hofstede s cultural dimensions as a point
of reference 2.1 The dimension of individualism collectivism
We know that there is a diverse population in Singapore, consisting mainly of Chinese, Malay and
Indians, all of which does not possess one single dominant national identity. Drawing on a variety
of traditions, different ethnic groups all consider themselves important parts of the diverse society
of Singapore. However, In the Saudi Arabia society, most people believe in Islam, and religious
control of Islam and its influence on the country are political, economical and can be seen in people
s daily life. Neglecting of religion may cause troubles in business activities. In Islam canon, the most
important are: religious service, almsgiving, fasting and pilgrimage and other activities. Religious
service is a ceremony that shows gratitude,
The AH-1 Cobra
The AH 1 Cobra was the first dedicated gunship to engage in frontline battles anywhere in the
world. Based on the Bell UH 1 Huey airframe and developed as a private venture, it proved to be a
huge success once it entered combat in Vietnam. This was one of the few U.S. Army aircraft to
have actual combat experience being put into the design of the airframe. The Cobra successfully
provided aerial gun support and fire suppression for the vulnerable transport and airmobile aircraft.
The overwhelming success it had in real world battle was the beginning of the armed gunship style
helicopters being used by the U.S. Military. Armed helicopters came into widespread use in
Vietnam in the early Sixties. Limitations of the modified armed utility helicopters like the Huey
gunships led to the specially configured attack helicopter known as the Cobra. While the US Army
went forward with its sophisticated AAFSS (advanced aerial fire support system) program to make
a dedicated attack helicopter, Bell ran its own company sponsored prototype, the Bell 209 based off

It was the first helicopter to use tandem style seating and used small stub wings to attach different
types of weapon stores and a nose mounted turret with mini gun or cannon. With all this research
and development in place, the US Army now had its own gunship platform they nicknamed the
AH 1G Huey Cobra. The helicopter, in desperate need in Vietnam, was entered into combat in
September 1967, just a few short years after its initial design. It became obvious that this was what
was needed in Vietnam so Army orders ramped up quickly. By mid 1968, 838 AH 1 helicopters had
been produced. From then it went through several modifications and upgrades during the course of
the war to increase its survivability and effectiveness. Eventually, the US Army dropped the Huey
name and it was known as the Cobra or
Alias Grace Essay
Based on a horrible murder in 1843 in Canada, the novel Alias Grace tells the story of a young
Irish born servant girl who plans to kill her employer and his mistress. It is a very horrifying
tragedy. An analysis of Grace Mark s behavior reveals many things. Her actions in the novel show
that she is guilty of the murders of Thomas Kinnear and Nancy Montgomery. She plans with a man
named James McDermott, hired help, to kill the loveof her life and the mistress he is seeing.
Alias Grace begins after a Grace has served eight years in prison. She is twenty four years old. She
is transferred from prison to an asylum over time to examine her activity to see if she is a sane
human being. She doesn t cooperate with the doctors and ... Show more content on [Link] ...
Grace tells him that she will be with him if he helps her kill Nancy Montgomery. McDermott he
loved Grace, and twas these loves as I do tell that brought them to disgrace. O Grace, please be my
own true love. (12) O no it cannot be, unless you kill for my dear sake, Nancy Montgomery. (12)
A doctor named Simon Jordan has taken an interest in Grace also. A group has tried for a pardon
for Grace. The doctor hopes that he will find Grace sane and innocent on all counts of the murders
of Nancy Montgomery and Thomas Kinnear. After he studies Grace for a period of time be
believes that he has fallen in love with her. He knows that he cannot have her so he takes out his
frustrations and fancies on his landlady. Dr. Jordon becomes more involved with Grace Marks case
and he tries to help her with her memory laps on the day that Nancy Montgomery and Thomas
Kinnear were murdered. The doctors put Grace under hypnosis and found that she was guilty of the
murders but she had a different personality that of Mary Whitney.
In addition to having motives, Grace Marks has done a really poor job of covering up the murder,
and can be considered guilty because of logical reasoning. Her love for Mr. Kinnear was true, but
she acted completely out of character after he was killed. It is thought that if her love was real, and
she did not commit the murder, that Grace Marks would be horrified after such a tragedy such as
that. Instead she acts calm and she even

Cataracts and Glaucoma A client has brought her dog into a veterinary clinic because she has
noticed a gray, cloudiness to the dog s right eye. After the veterinarian s examination it is determined
that the dog has a cataract. The owner is concerned and does not know what this means. Questions
like, what is a cataract, causes, symptoms, and treatments are asked. This is what an owner should
be educated on. Cataracts are an opacity, or cloudy, change in the lens of the eye. This cloudiness

Added pressure on the jugular vein can increase the intraocular pressure of the eye. These two
treatments only delay the end result of blindness. Surgery depends on the potential of vision.
Performing a delicate endolaser cyclophatocoagulation (ECPC) laser surgery may reduce the
chances of blindness. A probe is inserted into the eye where a beam selectively destroys some of
the fluid production cells. The lens is removed prior to surgery and then at the end of surgery
replaced with an artificial lens. ECPC is very complicated and performed by few veterinarians.
Permanently blind dogs can have a prosthetic eyeball implanted in the eye socket to remove the
painful pressure of the affected eye, and give the dog a better cosmetic look. If an implant is not
wanted, an injection of drugs into the eye may be done. This drug kills the fluid producing cells and
helps reduce intraocular
Prejudice Or Racial Intolerance In Society
The theme or issue in this article is racism or racial intolerance. To sum up, racial intolerance is the
idea that one racial group feels superior to others and believes that they are worthy to dominate
others. This is shown in the article when the African Americans continuously give examples of how
in departments the white employees are treated preferably to blacks in terms of salaries, promotions
and more than often acquiring jobs. This article shows racismbecause it shows a preference for one
racial group over another. Equality should not be this difficult to maintain in our day to day lives.
This kind of discrimination is like a disease, said Mr. Mehri. Mr. Mehri was referring to the racial
intolerance in society and relates it to a
Jack And Lord Of The Flies Essay
My Chinese Literature teacher told me, Everyone is special as they born in this world, but people
may have similar personalities and thoughts when they are in a similar situation. This kind of saying
is just like the environments affect the similarities of human being. The novel, Lord of the Flies,
author uses the innocent children to develop the theme of the evil and savage inside the human, and
in the painting from Goya Francisco, Saturn Devouring His Son, expressed the inhumanity of the
people obtain the power by hurting kinsfolk. Nevertheless, the main characters in the novel like Jack
and Ralph have a variety of similarities with Saturn and his son, Jupiter in the painting. Furthermore,
the author and painter also have something in common.
In the book, Jack was described as a boy who likes hunting. He represents the characteristic of evil,
it is correspond to the character, Saturn, who is eating his son in the painting. In the Lord of the

Ralph s only 2 closest friends, Piggy and Simon died. Remembering the scene of the big fire that

he worked alone. Fortunately, Ralph got saved. A naval officer stood on the sand, looking down at

There are very few options besides burritos, tacos and salads on their menu, while other fast food
restaurants have more variety. The competition have many options; including different hot meals,
specialty gourmet meals and signature fresh cooked options that Chipotle cannot not offer.
Limited Locations Because of the standards that Chipotle has set on themselves they cannot open
location anywhere, they must have the business and the infrastructure in place to grow the locations
profitability. Most of the competition doesn t have the same restrictions on setting up new locations,
as we ve seen the many McDonalds locations across the country.
Limited advertisements Chipotle doesn t believe they need to be dependent on advertising, and they
focus more on word of mouth. They utilize an in house agency, rather than hiring an outside agency,
which they have tried again and again. Chipotle executed an advertising campaign where they poked
fun at advertising agencies saying that the ad agencies said to show a burrito in the ad, but they
thought it was better to show where they came from or that the ingredients deserve the spotlight.
They did this through print, radio, and online but did not use TV ads or
Fate And Free Will In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Destiny is, was, and always will be; by definition, destiny is something to which a person or thing is
destined for: fortune. Justifying your poor decisions on a fictitious idea of destiny is a foolish way
to validate the irresponsible actions committed; Both Victor and the Monster believed that they were
destined to make the decisions they made and therefore were not at fault for the repercussions.
Destiny, or at least in the eyes of our main characters, is something that cannot be derailed, only
postponed. Their mindset was that everything was going to happen anyway, and therefore they
illogically reflected their blame on things other than themselves. Fate was something that blinded
them to the real world, and was thus their downfall. The largest factor in Victor and the Monster s
poor decisions was their inability to see that they were the creators of their destiny.

Destiny in their eyes was an unstoppable force. Such were the professor s words rather let me say
such the words of fate enounced to destroy me. (CH 3) Frankenstein had just arrived at Ingolstadt
and these words were spoken by his professor, M. Krempe regarding the philosophers who Victor
had been studying. This quote not only portrays the isolation that has been following Victor
throughout his life, but also that his poor decisions were not his fault but fate s. Victor alludes that
he is not to blame for his choice in authors, but that he was destined to be chastised for whatever he
had done. He believed that even if he read different authors he was destined to be told of their
A Vist to Hare Rama Hare Krishna Temple on Clark and Lunt
I visited Hare Rama Hare Krishna temple, located on Clark and Lunt, founded by A.C.
Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. A temple is a place of worship for followers of Hinduism. The
important aspect of a Hindu temple is that it not only focuses on communal worship but it also
serves as the home of God; most temples enshrine Vishnu, Shiva, or the Goddess and their
encourages. Although it is not mandatory to visit a temple, it is considered to be a vital role in the
Hindu community.
The Hare Rama Hare Krishna was the very first temple I visited. There was a little garden area that
led to the first door. The door to the entrance was quiet simple, not like I expected. I have always
thought the temple doors would be highly decorated, representing an elegant line of antique
furniture. As I stepped inside, we were to take our shoes off, as an act of respect and devotion.
Visitors and worshippers are required to remove any footwear before entering. The shoes are
taken off so they don t make the house of God dirty; it is a normal custom in India. There was
another door that led to the hall, where the murtis (statues) of the deities were present. Above my
head, I witnessed a bell (ghanta) hanging down. This was to be rung before taking your first step
in. Heading into the hall, I immediately noted how lively the atmosphere was and how clean and
unsoiled everything was. Large crowds of people gathered around to prepare for the prayer. What I
found really interesting was that unlike
Science Fair Project Report
This year, for my Science Fair Project I plan to do a study on how varying system parameters
affect the dynamics of a multi tank liquid level hydraulic system. The purpose of this type of
system is to maintain a constant fluid flow. In order to maintain this fluid flow the tanks have to
preserve a certain liquid level, this necessary level depends on the other variables. My system will
consist of: an inflow valve, the tanks, valves to go between the tanks, and an outflow valve. I want
to do this experiment because about two years ago, when I was in the seventh grade, I did a science
fair experiment where I tested how changing the variables in a mass spring damper system affected
system response. In that experiment, I changed the amount of mass,
